SUMMER 2010 Sixty-five Years And Counting On Friday, April 30, alumni, staff, former staff, and friends of the College gathered in the Saunders Irving Chapel to celebrate 65 years of ministry through Bethany Bible College. What a wonderful day of celebration as we reviewed our history in word and video. We were also privileged to hear a pre- recorded video message from three of our nine past presidents. The day was a vivid reminder of God’s faithfulness to staff and students through the years since Bethany Bible College first opened her doors in 1945. That fall, seventeen students and three faculty members met for classes in the parsonage of the Reformed Baptist Church in Woodstock, NB. In fall 2009, 203 students registered for classes on a spacious campus in Sussex, NB with seventeen buildings and forty-three faculty and staff. God has been faithful. This year as I have served Bethany as interim president in the midst of challenges common to most small denominational colleges, I have continued to witness God’s faithfulness. God has been faithful in reducing the debt of the College from just over six million dollars to just under five million dollars. God has been faithful in nurturing spiritual life on campus giving us an amazing year. God has been faithful in providing students who have given excellent leadership to campus life. God has been faithful in helping us fill the Executive Director of Admissions position with an experienced administrator. God has been faithful in supplying resources through a generous donor to complete the exterior and interior renovations to our oldest campus building, Nicholson Hall, which houses our campus library. God has been faithful in recruiting the next president of the College, Rev. Mark Gorveatte. Overall, this has truly been an amazing year and I am thankful to have had the privilege to see and experience what the Lord has done. On the following pages of this report, you will have opportunity to review several points of progress. However, these statistics cannot begin to convey the real mission or message of Bethany Bible College. Bethany’s real mission is found in the lives of her students and graduates. This summer and fall, thirty-six of Bethany’s students will be serving as student interns in twenty-one local churches, on five mission fields, and with five para-church ministries. In addition, thirty 2010 degree graduates will begin ministries in Christian schools, local churches, and mission fields across North America and around the world. Several of these graduates will continue their education at seminaries and universities. I am grateful, yet humbled, to hear reports of the excellent and passionate service of Bethany students and graduates. How could it be that this small college with limited resources continues to graduate students who are in such high demand across The Wesleyan Church? Students who have a reputation for not only knowing how to do the work of ministry but also for doing so with such love and passion for the lost and for the Church. I have concluded that this can only be the blessing of God and the moving of the Spirit in the lives of students, staff, and faculty. It is truly “a God thing.” As I conclude my year of service, I am thankful for the many people who have faithfully prayed for the College and for me this year. I am thankful for everyone who has so generously financially supported the ministry of Bethany. Whether your gift has been large or small, you have made a difference. I am thankful for pastors from across the Church who have been Bethany advocates. Your support is deeply appreciated. I am thankful for members of the Board of Trustees who have given me this opportunity, for the faculty and staff who have been so supportive of my leadership, and for my wife Sherry, who has faithfully served by my side throughout this year. As Bethany launches into a new era under the leadership of President Gorveatte, I believe God’s blessings and faithfulness will continue to be experienced by this institution called Bethany Bible College. SUMMER 2010

Sixty-five Years And Counting

On Friday, April 30, alumni, staff, former staff, and friends of the College gathered in the Saunders Irving Chapel to celebrate 65 years of ministry through Bethany Bible College. What a wonderful day of celebration as we

reviewed our history in word and video. We were also privileged to hear a pre-recorded video message from three of our nine past presidents.

God

has been faithful in supplying resources through a generous donor to complete the exterior and interior renovations to our oldest campus building, Nicholson Hall, which houses our campus library.

In addition, thirty 2010 degree graduates will begin ministries in Christian

schools, local churches, and mission fields across North America and around the world. Several of these graduates will continue their education

at seminaries and universities. I am grateful, yet humbled, to hear reports of the excellent and passionate service of Bethany students and graduates. How could it be that this small college with limited resources continues to graduate students who are in such high demand across The Wesleyan Church? Students who have a reputation for not only knowing how

to do the work of ministry but also for doing so with such love and passion for the lost and for the Church. I have concluded that this can only be the blessing of God and the moving of the Spirit in the lives of students, staff, and faculty. It is truly “a God thing.”

As I conclude my year of service, I am thankful for the many people who have faithfully prayed for the College and for me this year.
