President's Message

2019 has been a year of change for the Chicagoland Section, and I hope that you

recognize that the Board of Directors have been working very hard to bring more

Events and better Communication to our Members.

Through June, we have been hosted by three Mercedes Benz Dealers: Loeber

Motors Car Care Clinic in February, Mercedes Benz of StCharles Benz & Breakfast

in March, and Mercedes Benz of Chicago Service Facility Tour in June.

Some First Ever Events have been offered: Karting Grand Prix in March followed

by an Autocross School by invitation from the BMW CCA in April, then on to a Safe

Driver Safe Family Defensive Driving & Autocross in May. In June, we were invited

by sponsor Iron Gate Motor Condos, to a Benz and Breakfast and Car Care Clinic.

The Annual Montrose Harbor Benz & Breakfast event in May, brought out 60+

Members and potential New Members, and their cars. Joining us were three

Training Department Managers from Mercedes Benz USA, who unveiled the new

EQ Boost Integrated Starter-Generator in the updated GLE and the all new AMG

GT 4 Door Coupe, had us drooling.

And we are just getting started ..... .

As you will see in the accompanying Updated 2019 Event Calendar, we have 13 More Events- (July- October). Please take a look, and make plans to join us ...

On Saturday June 8th, 24 members, attended a very special morning at Chicagoland Section Spon­

sor, Iron Gate Motor Condos. The event was hosted by Iron Gate residents Graeme Thurtle and Nikki

Appelby, who were very gracious and opened their personal condo to us. Refreshments, Musical Per­

formances, and great camaraderie were definitely the highlights .

Prior to the visit, Iron Gate Resident Brighton Auto Detailing provided an excellent demonstration

On their products and services available. Brighton has extended a 10% discount to ALL Chicagoland

On June 1st 2019, the Chicagoland Section Board Members, surprised Gibby

With a recognition luncheon at his favorite Greek restaurant downtown

Chicago, where we presented him a commemorative plaque.

This plaque, honoring the over 60 years of service to the MBCA.

On Saturday May 25th, 11 drivers interested in improving their driving skills, participated

in a Safe Driver Safe Family event, sponsored by the Educational Foundation of the Mer­

cedes Benz Club of America. All received Certificate of Achievement !

Chief MBCA Instructor and Midwest Region Director and Instructor Sarah Oppenhuizen

along with Jason Burton created a very educational and challenging event, which pro­

vided great fun and life long memories. A great time was had by all!

Newsletter Editor and Board Member, Nick lacullo, recently presented a wall display to Loeber Motors

President Michael Loeber, commemorating the January-February 2019 Issue of the Star Magazine,

which features an article of Loeber Motors 601h Anniversary Celebration.

Harbor, for the annual Montrose Harbor Benz and Breakfast. New this year-Mercedes

Chicagoland member Hugh Wipple, answered the call, and volunteered to drive the

Friends of Fabyan dignitaries in the 35th Annual Swedish Day Parade, which took place

on June 23rd, 2019 in Geneva, Illinois.

On Friday, June 21st, 2019, over 25 members of the Chicagoland Section, accepted the

gracious invitation for Mercedes Benz Of Chicago, and attended an informative

presentation of their service center. The very inviting waiting area made for a great

gathering place for the reception, which included a tour of the 4 story service center.

Complete with a tour of the spectacular rooftop views of the Chicago skyline. Thanks

To Mercedes Benz of Chicago for hosting such a great event.

Octobtr 25-27, 2019 in Beautiful LaCrosse, Wisconsin

In 2018, (70) MBCA Members enjoyed an all day Tour of the Mississippi River Valley, utilizing the River Roads of NW Illinois and NE Iowa.

For 2019, we are moving up stream, and congregating in LaCrosse, WI, which lies in the "Driftless Area·, a very hilly and picturesque area that escaped the last ice age glacier, which makes for some great driving roads and breathtaking vistas.

The very relaxed itinerary will begin on Friday night, October 25th, and conclude on Sunday morning, October 27"'. We will kick things off with a Reception on Friday Night, $36.00 per person, and wrap up with a Group Dinner on Saturday Night, $55.00 per person.

The actual Fall Color Tours will take place on Saturday Morning and Saturday Afternoon, each approximately 2 -2.5 hours in length, providing us with some great views, colors, and smiles.
