President’s Message This is a hard message to write as I have had such a wonderful experience as President of this amazing network of Women. I must also say, that the board I had the honor to work with, each have their own unique qualities, all had one thing in common and that was to ensure the membership received the best possible experience!! I feel we achieved this and I will miss being President, but I look forward to being on the board next year as Past President. I know you will all agree that our speaker in May, Lynda Rose, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. Canada, was absolutely incredible and gave us an excellent way to finish our last formal meeting of the season. I would like to thank this years board for all their efforts, say farewell to Lisa Smith, Susan Joyce and Ann Marie Maly and at the same time welcome our three new board members Joanne Culley, Newsletter Director, Cindy Lukawesky-Dowdle, Publicity Director and Michele Kadwell-Chalmers, Secretary. Congratulations to Kathryn Fanning on being voted member of the year by the membership. Kathryn is your incoming president and I know she will do an excellent job for the membership! Those who attended the Golden Pathways Babes in Business after hours will agree that Cora went above and beyond, with excellent food, and unique activities and the event was in a wonderful setting. Thanks so much to Cora Whittington for hosting us. Summer Social is coming soon! June 3rd Viamede Resort, make sure you have made arrangements for bus or other transport. J Look for the RSVP on your email. Please watch your emails over the summer as there will be important details you don’t want to miss. We have the chance to support each other everyday. Babes in Business Go Offsite@ Golden PathwaysOn Wednesday, May 13th a number of WBN members gathered at Golden Pathways to vaporize their anxiety! Cora Whittington welcomed us all to her lovely Feng Shui designed Retreat and B&B located on 195 beautiful acres. It was quite an impressive sight!Cora truly went all out for this event. She had a number of talented people who offered treatments, such as mini massages and therapeutic touch, to help us relax after the work day. She also had displays showcasing Silpada jewellery and different eco-friendly ideas. Even Cora herself did a presentation explaining how she uses various coaching techniques to help people overcome struggles in their lives. One of the highlights was the unbelievable food – everything from homemade soups and bread to rhubarb tarts and brownies. Delicious! Cora ended the evening with some generous door prizes, including books and a massage. The big winners included: Kim Paget, Michele Kadwell-Chalmers, Yvette Peplinskie, Lia Evangelista and Paula Elgar. Thanks to Cora and her friends for such a wonderful evening!

Meetings are held at the Holiday Inn the first Wednesday of each month with the exception of September, which is the second Wednesday. Social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. The Christmas Social will be held on December 3, 2008 at Parkway Place.

Meeting attendance must be confirmed in advance of each meeting. You will receive an email two weeks in advance of each meeting which will prompt you to respond regarding attendance and choice of meal. Special dietary meals require one week’s notice. Please respond promptly to messages as we need to confirm headcount with the Holiday Inn for meals. Any questions or concerns regarding the Women’s Business Network, meals or any other club matters are to be directed to your President, Amy Simpson, at [email protected]. All concerns will be addressed in a timely manner.
