PAT’S PART

Dear HPDA Members,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year without too many Covid 19 restrictions. Now we begin a new year and pray 2021 will be good to all of us.

It was rewarding to have 20 or so members join in the Zoom water-color Christmas card Zoom class and share their artistic skills. Linda McCurdy and I had a lot of fun putting the program together and, quite frankly, we both took naps that afternoon!

Approval has been received from the managers of the Pinellas Park Art Center for the chapter to meet in Roe’s Deli Station at 5851 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, on our normal monthly meeting dates in January, February and March. Doors will open at 9:30 and we need to be out by 2:00. Lunches can be ordered ahead of time for $10.00 and fur-ther details will be sent out in the near future. Also the January pro-gram will be announced at a later date. Pictures and menus for the facility are on Facebook.

Directions to Roe’s, Coming west You can turn north off of Park Blvd just before the train tracks or you can come south down 60th street and come across the railroad tracks into the parking lot from the north. It is clearly marked with signs. Because we opted out of having a Christmas party this year I could not recognize chapter members and officers who have helped keep the organization semi-functioning throughout the pandemic. So I use this venue to thank the board members for having my back and being available to respond to emails and phone calls as the needs arose.

Happy New Year

I have reprinted this from the December newsletter as I feel it is important informa-tion. The Faith Community Church board met and decided not to have outside groups rent the meeting rooms until possibly March. That being said, we probably will have to rely on ZOOM classes for a while longer. Eric said he misses all of us and thinks of us often. We received a very nice “Thank You” from the church for the $100 check we sent which covered Thanksgiving food for their largest family of nine plus one other individual. Along these lines, one of our younger mem-bers, Jennifer Hoffer, is going through a rough patch so a “Thinking of You” and/or a “Christmas Card” would be nice and I am sure welcomed by Jennifer, Jennifer’s address is in the membership book. A motion was approved to extend a $50 payment to all teachers that teach a ZOOM class. The results of my proposal to all members in good standing for the chapter to reimburse the SDP membership dues for 2021 was approved by 35 of the 54 members with zero “No” Votes. So, all members in good standing, remember to pay your $60 SDP dues before December 31st, then send a completed HPDA Reimbursement Form (found on the HPDA website) along with a copy of your SDP renewal receipt to Carol Adams and she will send you a reimbursement check. Please use “Membership” in the section “Charge the Expense to” and “SDP Dues Reimbursement” in the Purpose of Expense section of the form.

Keep your eyes open for meeting and program announcements as the weeks go by. See you on January 9th at 9:30! Happy to all! Pat Stone President

One of the nicest responsibilities of being HPDA president is selecting Golden Heart recipients at Christmas time. I have chosen two long time members who have contrib-uted consistently over the years to the success of the chapter and are overdue to be recognized. Therefore, I am very happy to name Jacki Gehring and Lori Sindell as the 2020 Golden Heart recipients. As such they can use the $50 each to use for art related activities in 2021Hbuying products, books, attending classes and seminars, etc. Please join me in congratulating them for their service via phone or emails!

Cancellation of the Florida State Fair

Subject: Florida State Fair Postponed As of December 18, 2020 - The Florida State Fair has been Postponed in the hopes that it will enable members in all chapters to enter a piece of artwork for exhibition.

Please - if you did not receive the specifications for how to submit entries instructions, it is on the “Florida State Fair” website under “CREATIVE LIVING”.

WE NEED ALL THE EXAMPLES OF ART WE CAN OBTAIN FROM OUR CHAPTERS FOR FUTURE AND YOUNGER ARTISTS TO SEE ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MEDIUMS AVAILABLE TO THEM.

Should you have any questions, please feel to call Kathy Edwards with the FSDA Chapter as she works closely with Brenda Gregory, the State Fair Art Exhibitor.

I hope some of us will be able to attend, but at least our artwork will be displayed. You never know what the judges will deem winners. Now you have time to finish or start a project to enter!!!!!

I wanted to share with you that today, the Florida State Fair Authority Board of Directors voted unanimously to

postpone the Florida State Fair from February to April. Originally scheduled for February 11-22, 2021 the Florida

State Fair competitions, entertainment, carnival and other attractions and activities will now be scheduled for

some time in April 2021. The rescheduled dates will be announced as soon as they are permitted through the

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. We hope that each of you understand the impor-

tance of assuring we are able to host a safe and successful fair in 2021.

I will keep you updated as decisions are made. Let me know your questions and concerns and how this change

of dates might affect your participation in the Fair. Please know we are still be accepting Entry Forms

ann hope that this postponement will increase the participation in Creative wiving Competi-tions. Encourage new folks to participate.

We will provide refunds for those that paid an extra late fee charges as soon as the dust settles. All entry fees

are back to regular amount $3 for adult & $1 for youth.

As soon as we have answers to everyone’s pressing questions we will get them to you. Nonetheless, we are

committed and excited to host a fantastic 2021 Florida State Fair sometime in April!
