President & CEO, Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin

The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin seeks an innovative and enthusiastic President & CEO to provide leadership and strategic growth for its dynamic and growing organization. The CEO is responsible for executing the foundation’s vision of being the first choice for philanthropic investment in the future of north central Wisconsin.

As a $69 million foundation, we are poised for continued growth. With the support of an engaged and committed board of directors, the President & CEO will execute a strategic plan focused on donor engagement, community awareness, and asset development.

Key Areas of Responsibility The President & CEO is accountable for the successful leadership, management, and growth of the Foundation, engaging in the following responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership • Serves as a strategic thinker and visionary leader of the CFONCW with the ability to turn

vision into action and achieve results. • Seeks opportunities to be a high impact and high profile community partner through

collaborative partnerships and projects. • Serves as a respected leader within the community and in philanthropic circles, bringing to

the Foundation the best ideas and practices to respond to community needs.

Asset Development and Donor Relations • Cultivates strong relationships with donors, nonprofits, and community leaders to advance the

Foundation’s mission and vision. • Works closely with the Director of Donor Services to grow the Foundation using methods to

excite and engage donors to build directed and endowment assets. • Assures the fund development policy is up-to-date and consistent with current practices to

safeguard the ongoing integrity of donor intent and stewardship. Organizational Management • Leads the day-to-day operations of the CFONCW with an eye toward continuous

improvement. • Manages the hiring, training, and supervision of staff, providing annual written performance

assessments and professional development opportunities. • Maintains current skills and knowledge of best practices within the field of philanthropy,

attending seminars and professional training institutes as appropriate. • Ensures the Foundation has the appropriate communication systems, physical space, and

technology to operate efficiently and effectively. Fiduciary Responsibility • In conjunction with the Investment Committee, ensures the assets of the Foundation are

invested optimally and in accordance with the guidelines and policies. • Oversees budgeting process and establishes metrics to report measures of strategic and

operational success. • Monitors compliance to ensure that Foundation practices conform to state and federal laws.

Community Relations • Serves as an official spokesperson of the CFONCW in a professional and articulate manner.

Seeks opportunities to share the goals and objectives of the organization. • Promotes the Foundation’s visibility through participation and membership in community

forums, civic organizations, and activities that align with the Foundation’s mission and vision. • Directs the Marketing Associate in developing and implementing a strategic marketing plan

that provides a clear and concise message of the Foundation’s mission. Board Relations • Regularly reports to the Board on the status towards achieving its strategic goals. • Designs, reviews, and implements all operational policies and guidelines for the Foundation

and presents these to the Board for input and approval. • Works closely with Board Committee Chairs to assign resources and staff to ensure their

success. Assists Nominating Committee in the recruitment of new Board members. Qualifications

The ideal President & CEO candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences:

• Innovative leader with a proven track record of effective, transparent, and engaged leadership; • Experienced manager who has developed and managed a high-performing staff; • Excellent communicator with well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; • Person of high integrity and emotional intelligence; • Collaborator who develops meaningful relationships with donors, staff, board members,

community leaders, and nonprofits; • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute both daily details and drive strategic goals to

achieve growth; • Experience monitoring financial performance and taking strategic action; • Entrepreneurial mindset with problem solving abilities and strong organizational skills; • Involved in their community and passionate about making north central Wisconsin a more

vibrant and livable community; • Understanding of how a high performing foundation or nonprofit endowment functions is

desired; • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience in business,

development, planned giving, finance, or a related field.
