DetailsThe Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) model 1918 was developed by John M. Browning in 1917. Marlin-Rockwell Corporation, Colt, and Winchester made 85,000 rifles during WWI to meet the US military requirement.

Ohio Ordnance Works, Inc. manufactures a semi-automatic version of this rifle; 1918A3 (WWII version). The only one of its kind in production anywhere in the world, it is manufactured with some of the original USGI WWI and WWII parts.

For the last 18 years, we have taken great care in building of each rifle.

Only the highest quality Ohio Ordnance original and USGI standard parts are used in its production.

The heart of the 1918A3 is the receiver made from 8620 steel casting that has been carburized and induction heat treated. The castings are machined on state-of-the-art, CNC machining centers. Every rifle is fully assembled, inspected, test-fired and re-inspected under the direct supervision of our master armorer.

The entire manufacturing process is accomplished at our facility in Chardon, Ohio. Our team is made up of experts in the military ordnance field, some with over 40 years’ experience in the trade.

DetailsOhio Ordnance Works, Inc. (OOW) is pleased to offer our unique, re-engineered, belt-fed, semi-automatic version of the M240 machine gun. Delivering up to minute-of-angle (MOA) accuracy, high capacity, and proven durability, this weapon is ideal for situations which require highly accurate, sustained, controlled fire.

The M240-SLR is dimensionally identical to the M240, and is able to integrate into any M240 mounting system. The most noticeable difference between the M240-SLR and the M240 machine gun is that the SLR fires from a closed bolt. Many of the internal parts of the firearm have been redesigned, introducing an entirely new breed of M240.

The bolt and trigger groups are new and not interchangeable with the original M240. These new internal parts are all manufactured by OOW at our ISO certified facility where we are able to ensure that quality meets our stringent standards.

While the internal mechanism of the firearm has been redesigned, we’ve kept it simple. The M240-SLR requires only two tools to break it down. All other actions such as barrel changing, loading, feed cover functions, etc. remain the same as the original M240.

In field tests, using match ammunition, a randomly chosen weapon easily produced minute-of-angle (1”) groups at 100 yards! In both single and rapid fire (400 rpm) tests, absolutely no malfunctions were experienced with the gun...a true testament to its superb engineering.

While the M2 QCB offers the same protection and capabilities that the classic M2 Heavy Barrel offers with cyclic rate (450-550 rpm), effective range (7,400 yards), and ease of maintenance, it also offers the users reduced barrel change time. About UsCompany HistoryRobert I. Landies, the owner and founder of Ohio Ordnance Works, Inc. (OOW), has been involved with ordnance for over 45 years. Beginning in 1964, Mr. Landies started his career working at TRW in the jet engine division and eventually moving to the Navy torpedo division. Continuing as a collector and gun-smith of military firearms, he gained extensive knowledge in a myriad of different weapon systems and designs during his seven years of military service with the U.S. Army in both active and reserve duty as an armor officer. Beginning in 1981, this knowledge was brought to bear through a full time business with the establishment of what is today known as Ohio Ordnance Works, Inc.

During the years 1981 - 1990, OOW engaged primarily in buying and selling military firearms, parts and accessories in the commercial market. Qualified employees and manufacturing machinery were added which facilitated the development of a repair department and the ability to build small orders of firearms from scratch for the commercial market.

Beginning in 1990, OOW began manufacturing firearms and ordnance for supply to different foreign and domestic government agencies. This capacity has expanded steadily over the years due to a wide base of weapon system knowledge, qualified personnel, state of the art machinery, new technology, and a commitment to excellence in both products and service.
