INTRODUCING ...

Makram Joubran (Artistic Director & Choreographer) is a student at the U-M, where he's working towards an MAin theater and a PhD in modern Arabic litera­ture. He directed and choreographed Funny Girl for Musket, and has choreograph­ed a long list of other shows, including My Fair Lady, Guys & Dolls, Kiss Me Kate, and Marne. Mac, who has also performed in Musket productions of West Side Story, George M, and Out Of Our Minds, teaches jazz and tap dancing for the Ann Arbor Recreation Dept.

Fran Stewart(Assistant Director) came to AACT in 1964. She appeared in The Rose Tattoo and played a lead in A Choice ToM ake, a special play by AACT for the Mich­igan Commission on Aging. Fran, who was assistant director for Star-Spangled Girl last year, is a member of the Board of Directors; officially Vice-President, she's currently serving as Acting President.

Bradley Bloom (Musical Director) is a familiar figure to Ann Arbor theater-goers. In addition to serving as musical director for AACT productions of Man Of La Mancha, Fiddler On The Roof. and Once Upon A Mattress, he has filled the same role for seven Gilbert & Sullivan shows. Brad is a choral conductor and instructor of music theory at Schoolcraft College in Livonia.

Jerry DePuit (Rehearsal Accompanist & Pit Piano) has functioned as accompanist, musical director, or composer for numerous groups in Ann Arbor. A student and technical assistant at the U-M School of Music, Jerry expects to graduate in December.

Alida Gail Silverman (Producer) has worked in some capacity on almost every AACT show produced in the last two years. In addition, she served as front-of-the­house and publicity coordinator for the 1971 and 1972 summer seasons. Alida was assistant producer of Brass & Grass and Once Upon A Mattress, and producer of Antigone. She is currently an AACT board members.

Steven L. Gilliam (Set Designer & Technical Director) has designed the sets for about a dozen shows, including She Loves Me, Long Day's Journey Into Night, and Hello Dolly. A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Steve taught high school for one year and worked in professional theater for four seasons. He is currently associate director of International Cultural Exchange, a foreign exchange program in Ann Arbor.

Diane Daverman (Costume Designer) is a PhD candidate and Rackham Prize Fellow at the U-M. In addition to designing the costumes forU-M productions of Charley 's Aunt and A Doll's House, Diane has appeared in The Devils, Anthony and Cleopatra, Charley's Aunt, and The Beaux Stratagem.

Robert T. Prouse(Lighting Designer) is a resident stagehand at the Power Center. Although new to AACT, he has worked with University Players as lighting tech­nician, and has been the principal lighting designer for the University Dancers since 1971. Among the shows he designed for University Players are The Gallows Man,

Dark OfThe Moon, and The Loves of Anatol. Most recently, Bob designed the light· ing for the School of Music production of Cosi Fan Tutte. He is a member of the United Scenic Artists of America.

John Ford (Production Stage Manager) has been a member of AACT since 1961, and has served as stage manager, technical director, or lighting designer for many shows, most recently Once Upon A Mattress. He has been assistant stage manager with the Ypsilanti Greek Theatre and the APA, in Ann Arbor and New York, and has worked with several other groups as well.

George Groehsl (Stage Manager) lives in northern Michigan, and returns to Ann Arbor once a year to do an AACT musical. Previous Civic Theatre shows on which he has worked include Fiddler On The Roof, Man Of La Mancha, Marne, and South Pacific. This year George is stage managing the U-M School of Music opera.

Judy Riecker (Reno Sweeney) has appeared in many plays with both AACT and the Gilbert & Sullivan Society. For her performance as Madame Rose in Gypsy, Judy won AACT's Best Actress Award. Women's News Editor for WAAM Radio and a past President of AACT, she directs and teaches theater at the Greenhills School.

Bruce Kent(Billy Crocker) is a student at the U-M, where he is also a computer oper­ator at the Computing Center. He was last seen with AACT in Once Upon A Mattress. Bruce has performed in numerous other plays, including Musket's pro­duction of Funny Girl, in which he portrayed Eddie Ryan.

Robert Chapel (Moonface) has directed or appeared in more plays than can be listed here. Ann Arbor audiences will remember his delightful performance as Fancourt Babberly in Charley's Aunt earlier this year. He has also appeared in Mother Courage and The Beaux Stratagem. This past summer he directed A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum in the U-M's summer/repretory program. Bob, who is business manager of University Players, is working towards a doctorate in theater.

Beth Titmuss (Hope)is a senior majoring in voice performance at the U-M School of Music. She has performed in several musicals, including three Musket shows: George M, in which she played Agnes Nolan, My Fair Lady, and Funny Girl.

Constance Avsharian (Bonnie) has held lead roles in AACT productions of South Pacific, Guys & Dolls and, most recently, Once Upon A Mattress. She has also work· ed with Musket. Connie, who participated in a USO tour of South Vietnam in 1970, is married to violinist Charles Avsharian; they have three children.

Beverley Pooley (Sir Evelyn) is appearing in his lOth AACf production. He was named Best Actor for his performances in Misalliance, Finian 's Rainbow, and Man For All Seasons. Bevis a professor in the U-M Law School and director of the Law Library.

Patty Gold (Charity) is a junior at the U-M, and has portrayed matrons in two Musket musicals. Tired of playing old ladies, Patty plans to pursue a career in nuclear physics, astrology, or cosmetology after graduation.

Bette Ellis (Mrs. Harcourt) earned BA and MA degrees in speech and drama at the U-M. A veteran of many plays, Bette has also worked in radio & TV. A member of AACT since 1949, she was last seen as the Nurse in Antigone. Bette teaches speech/ drama and English at Forsythe Jr. High.

Barbara Canner (Chastity & dance captain) is a junior at the U-M, where she's majoring in education. She has performed in two Musket musicals, and this past summer was lead dancer for a summer music theater company in southern Illinois.

Judy Brown (Prudence) performed in My Fair Lady and Funny Girl with Musket, and was Princess #12in Once Upon A Mattress. A teaching fellow at the U-M, Judy is a teacher of vocal music at Eberwhite Elementary School in Ann Arbor.

Susanne Wrlght(Purity)has performed in summer stock, and was a member of The New Century Singers, a professional folk-singing group. She appeared in the chorus of AACT's Once Upon A. Mattress, and did props for Forty Carats. Susanne is a former French teacher.

Deborah Guido (Virtue) is a drama major at EMU. She played lead roles in North­ville High School productions of Marne and The Man Who Came To Dinner, and also worked on the stage crew for Charley's Aunt.

Jerry Patterson (Whitney) has been active in community theater for over 40 years. He has appeared in an average of one AACf play a year for the last 12 years. Among the capacities in which Jerry has served with AACT are President, Treasurer, and mem­ber of the board.

Joseph Medrano (Bishop & Captain) has performed in several AACT plays, includ­ing Cactus Flower, Brass & Grass, and Guys & Dolls. He has also performed and crewed with University Players. Joe is a mathematics instructor at Allen Park High School.

Tom Jordan (Purser) is a lecturer in the U-M's English Dept. He once played the role of the Scarecrow in a European TV production of The Wizard Of Oz, and has appeared in many other plays with various organizations. Tom recently completed a PhD in English with a specialty in drama.

Dave Roeger (Steward & Sailor) is a senior in the U-M's College of Engineering. He has performed in five AACT musicals, and has also appeared with Musket and Ann Arbor Civic Ballet.

David Marshall (Reporter & Sailor) has worked with AACT, Intermission Players, and various dance organizations. He played the Stage Manager in Our Town and Haem on in Antigone, both AACT productions. David is a pre-med student at EMU.

John Dennis Tonkovich (Camerman & Sailor), who appeared in Musket's Funny Girl, has been involved in theater through high school and college. He will receive a BA in speech pathology & audiology from the U-M in December.

John Jerome (Sailor) has performed in numerous plays, including Oliver, Bye, Bye Birdie, Guys & Dolls, and Marne.

Sunny LaFave (Passenger) is a veteran of many AACT plays. Her most recent roles were in Once Upon A Mattress and Fiddler On The Roof, in which she played Goldie. Sunny is an ex-officio member of AACT's Board of Directors.

Diane Aron (Passenger) teaches kindergarten in the Wayne Westland Schools. She received a Master of Music from the U-M, and has performed with the Dearborn Choral Arts Society as soloist. Diane has appeared in several plays, and was a mem­ber of a Shakespearean tour group called Dramatour.

Judith Leitner (Passenger) has performed with the Western Michigan University Dance Company and the U-M Concert Dance Theater. She is currently a student at the U-M, majoring in education.

JackS. Townsley (Ching) played this role once before-in a high school production of Anything Goes. He is a teacher at Northville High School.

Stuart Gould (Ling) is a 20-year veteran of AACT. Last seen as the Constable in Fiddler On The Roof, he is presently a member of AACT's Board of Directors. Stuart is a local psychiatrist.
