FROM THE DIRECTOR FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear IRP Friends,
It is with great sadness that I write this article. Last month, Bertha Chomsky z”l, passed away. Bertha, along with Bebe Barnett, Lillian Bernstein, Alan Kandel, Ethel Levine Krause, Hilda Lucas and Leon Lucas, all of blessed memories, founded this
amazing organization we call IRP in 1985.
Bertha was the first IRP president (from 1986-1989) and the vision she shared was unchartered and has proven itself time and again over the past 30 years. I know that IRP members past, present and future appreciate Bertha’s dedication and hard work at making this wonderful organization what it is today. Although for health reasons she was unable to participate in the past few years, she loved keeping current with all the IRP
activities right up to the end of her life.
I also want to let you know that I will be taking a vacation time and will be out of the office December 16-January 3. I wish each of you and your families a HEALTHY & HAPPY CHANUKAH
AND NEW YEAR!
B’Shalom,
Sharon Levine 248.432.5406 [email protected]
Dear IRP Friends, Winter is here or imminent and we set aside our climate-envy to wish happy travels to our south-bound members. Be sure to notify our office with your winter email address and phone number so we can keep you informed of all the IRP activities you will miss! We thank Marilyn Stone and her Social Committee for the successful Farber Family Folk-Fest. There was much praise from the large audience, both IRP members and non-members. A commonly heard question from the attendees was “will we do this again next year?”. At the recent Executive Committee/Governing Council meet-ing, we continued discussing the transportation needs of many of our members. No magical single solution is availa-ble but possibilities include services like UBER, and especial-ly having discussion group members offering rides to fellow attendees or those who want to attend but can’t drive. In the meantime, we will continue meeting and discussing this prior-ity need with other organizations and agencies to learn from their experiences. Remember that the JCC will be ‘taken-over’ by the large youth conclave during the last week in December so only the IRP discussion groups that meet at Congregation Beth Sha-lom will be scheduled for that week. Happy holidays ----- and may the Electoral College have an epiphany!
Aaron Lupovitch, President ---- of 200(+/-) presidents 248-312-8570
