TheOKIDOKBelgianduohasbeenworkingonclowningartforthepasttenyears,developingtwoimages:“theclowns”and“theslips”.
InourshowHA HA HA,our“clowns”wearextravagantmake‐up,bigshoesandrednoses,evoking the old tradition of Russian clowning and conveying a poetry that reminds thespectatorofhiscircusmemories.Wehavecreatedforthemarepertoireofshortstoriesandminimalistictales,leadingustodeveloptheircharactersaswellasaninventiveuniverseinwhich to evolve, featuring our sense of comical, outstanding acrobatics and theatricalpoetry.
On theother side,our “slips”, the twocharacters inunderwear fromSLIPS INSIDE,areawkwardartists.Inplaceoftheclassical“leotard”oftheacrobat,theyhaveborrowedtheirgrandfathers’underpants for theexecutionof their show.Theyplay thusona completelydifferentclowningvein,thatoftheridiculous,theclumsyandtheflop.
The imageryhere ismore immediateand raw,anchored inthe realityofhereandnowbytheir accidental “nudity” as the unveiling of their singular bodies contrasts with theobsessionofoursocietywithphysicalperfection.Thefocus inthisclowntheater issetonthe characters, dramaturgy being here mainly a pretext to being on stage. Minimalisticpretexts,borrowing to circusandmusic‐hallperformancesaswell as toacrobatics,magic,mime,stuntanddance,allowthecharacterstoplayeverypossiblefailureinrelationtotheproposal. Thiswayofactingpushes to improvisationand todevelop thepeculiarities thatcomposetheduoandtherelationshipbetweenthetwocharactersaswellastheonetheycreatewiththepublic.
Thosetwodifferentartisticpathsinclowntheatrehavedevelopedintandemandnurturedeach other while opening up together. We will carry on in this direction, nurturing ourcharactersbygivingthemnewpretextstoact,newstoriesandfablestoevolveinsoastocarryfurtherthesingularityoftheduoandoftheirtwouniverses.

Clad only inunderpants, Albert and Baudoin compete to see who can perform the most incrediblenumber of press‐ups, the most beautiful dance routine, the most devastating kung fumove...ThisBelgianduobringsusanincrediblefarce,winneroftheGrandPrizeattheMilanoClownFestival in 2009.
