Academic Integrity
The largest study on the subject of academic integrity was completed in 2003. This study was organized by Rutgers University Management Professor Don McCabe, in conjunction with the Center for Academic Integrity at Duke University.
• This study took place at 34 college and university campuses in the US and Canada.
The participants included: • 36,000 students • 4500 teaching faculty• 1300 teaching assistants
Internet Plagiarism
• 44 % of students reported that they considered such behavior trivial, or not cheating at all. -Don McCabe
• 38 % of undergraduate students admitted to one or more incidents of "cut & paste" plagiarism (using the internet) without citing the source in the past year. This is a 10% increase over a similar study conducted in 2001. -Don McCabe
