She holds a doctor of arts degree in vocal performance and choral conduct- ing from Ball State University and teaches applied voice, conducting, and other music-related courses at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Croatian-born jazz vocalist Lela Kaplowitz marks her first appearance on the DCINY Artist Series with a unique program of original music promoting her new album “To One.” A vocal improvisationalist, Kaplowitz aims to “raise the beauty out of ordinary, daily life” through her personal connection with the inspirational power of music. Kaplowitz actively records and performs throughout Europe and the US. This concert marks her Carnegie Hall debut. Constantinides’ works have been performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. In this concert, faculty members from the Louisiana State University School of Music and the Kutztown Chamber Players will perform his original compositions. Dinos Constantinides The Music of Dinos Constantinides Monday, September 30 at 8:00 PM Hailed as a “strong violinist” by The New York Times, Honduran-born Jorge Ávila is the current concertmaster for Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and makes his DCINY Artist Series Debut with this performance. A recipient of various awards and honors, he has won attention as an outstanding violinist through numerous appearances as a soloist, recitalist, concertmaster, and chamber musician. Jorge is joined on the piano by his longtime friend and collaborator, Adrienne Kim. Jorge Ávila Jorge Ávila, Violin Monday, September 23 at 8:00 PM Polish flutist Elżbieta Woleńska is a dynamic artist who embraces both traditional and contemporary classical music. The recipient of numerous prizes at national and international competitions, Woleńska frequently performs as a soloist as well as with orchestras and chamber ensembles. Her repertoire includes compositions written for bass, alto, and piccolo flutes. This concert marks Elżbieta Woleńska and Zhang Moru’s DCINY Artist Series Debut at Carnegie Hall.
