Notre Dame de Paris also known as Notre Dame Cathedral is a Gothic, Roman Catholic cathedral on the centre of Ile de la cit. It is the cathedral of the Catholic Archdiocese of Paris: that is, it is the church that contains the official chair of the Archbishop of Paris, currently Andr Vingt-Trois. The importance of the Notre dame Cathedral is that it is one of the finest gothic cathedrals built in the twelfth century and it is situated right in the heart of Paris on an island in the middle of the river Seine. There is only one other cathedral of that kind in Paris. Notre- Dame has seen a great deal of history and has survived many wars.
