Tips

Know your audience. Know what’s important to them.

Know your material. DON’T read it. Know what you’re saying. Be professional, but have fun. Slides are used to enhance your

presentation. THEY ARE NOT THE PRESENTATION.

Start with your main idea. Your USP. Weave your theme throughout your

presentation. Make eye contact. Look for the

smilers and the head nodders. Don’t use a gimmick just to use a

gimmick. Make sure your equipment works.

Be confident & enthusiastic. Not a smart aleck.

Grab them in the introduction Quality is important. Practice past the point where you’re

sick of it. Ask for the outcome you desire.

Trust your teammates. Interact. Practice

Openings

Ask a question. Start with a short video. Make a series of statements. Describe your target audience.

Q & A

How you answer is important. Think on your feet. Feel free to ask

the questioner to repeat the question if you didn’t understand it.

Anticipate questions Believe in what you’re presenting. Know your presentation Don’t worry about mistakes Get enough sleep. Stay away from

coffee.

Avoid the dreaded death by PowerPoint

Be original Keep copy short. 3 – 5 bullets per slide. Import sounds & video if it helps make

your point. Use transitions and animations. Be consistent. KISS Don’t read your slides. Leave something for the leave-behind

materials.

Use a remote. Mix it up. Don’t stand in front of the screen. Proofread the slides. Mistakes are not fatal. Know your equipment Have a plan B or C. Practice.
