3 Repository management A BlackBoard server can offer multiple Presentations 2Go repositories with this BuildingBlock. You
can define multiple virtual repositories all pointing to the same Presentations 2Go Videoserver.
However, it is also possible to assign multiple Presentations 2Go Videoservers, each with multiple
virtual repositories.
Each repository can have different BlackBoard managers assigned to it. As repository manager you
can update and configure your own repository settings.
3.1 Create

3.2 Edit
Once you have defined the basic configuration settings you can refine your repository with search
criteria.

3.3 Search Criteria
You can limit your repository output to fit additional criteria. Multiple criteria can be given; only
items that satisfy all criteria will be available to the teachers. Text searches are case-insensitive.
Add additional criteria with Add Criteria
In addition to literal values you can also use variables in your search definition. These variables will
be replaces by real values at the time (and in the context) where the search is executed. The
supported variables are:
${course.title} title of the course
${course.id} the course id; for example INTP01.2013-2014.1a
${course.short} the short course id; for example INTP01
V0.9 Webpart installation manual www.presentations2go.eu March 2010 P a g e | 15

${course.year} the year, if available in course id; example 2013-2014
${course.period} the period, if available in the course id; example 1a
${course.yearWithPeriod} combination of year and period; example 2013-2014.1a
${today} today's date (remember: at the time the search runs!)
${today.minus.N} where N is a positive number; days in the past from today
3.4 Access control
Access to add items from the repository into a course can be restricted to people who have a specific
institution role or who are enrolled in a certain course (or organization).
Important: this restriction is only in effect while adding recordings to the course; once the recording
is added everyone in the course can view it.

4 Teacher instructions
4.1 Introduction
Once the Presentations 2Go buildingblock is in place, it allows users with certain roles to insert a
single item or smart lists into a course.
There are three methods to insert content
1. Mash-up method; Select a video to show in a regular content item
2. P2Go item; Select a video to show in your content item.
3. P2Go list; A P2Go List is a dynamic list. Each time a student opens the list item, the items are
updated to meet the list search criteria.
Course documents list with Presentations 2Go content
Example of dynamic list

Hover over the title to retrieve slides (when available)
4.2 Create content
Open your course in Edit mode
Select Build Content
Select your content item to create
4.2.1 Information
Use the information section to give your List or item a title and
description.

4.2.2 Optional Files
Optional you can add additional files like PDFs or PPTs below the list items.
4.2.3 Media Selection
Video material is stored in repositories. You will only see repositories that you are authorized to use.
The content available per repositories is already restricted by the blackboard administrator.
4.2.4 Search Criteria
Add criteria to show only a subset of available recordings (you can also leave the criteria blank to
include all videos). Use the international date format (example: 1999-12-31) when using date
criteria. It is also possible to use a special date value ${today.minus.N} where N is a positive number;
this signifies a number of days in the past relative to the day when someone clicks on this item.
Example: `publication date < ("before") ${today.minus.7}` will daily generate a new list with
recordings that are at that time at lease one week old.
Now you can add search criteria. The criteria behave like AND queries and are added to the criteria
already defined in the repository definitions.
The lists with search fields and values are dynamic and retrieved automatically from the
Presentations 2Go Video server.

supported variables are:
${course.title} title of the course
${course.id} the course id; for example INTP01.2013-2014.1a
${course.short} the short course id; for example INTP01

${today} today's date (remember: at the time the search runs!)
${today.minus.N} where N is a positive number; days in the past from today
4.2.5 Options
Use the Option features to restrict or time your item visibility.
