Theneedforadifferenttypeofdata

ActionIntelligenceoffersaresearchstandardthat

allowsforcross-sectoranddiversesocio-cultural

datasetstobeintegratedandanalyzed.

Socialdevelopmentandhumanitarianassistance

activitiesare,whenlookedatclosely,arecomplex

websoflinkedActorscarryingoutoverlappingActionssimultaneouslyatalllevelsofsocietyindifferent

locations.Becauseofthedifferentlayersandlevelsof

data,thiscomplexsocialcontexthasbeendifficult

supportfromInternationalPartnershas

implementedthefirsttwostages(data

collection,classificationandtagging)of

theActionIntelligenceFramework.This

hasresultedinanorganizedqualitative

dataset2tosupportconsultantsand

countryanalystspreparingtwonational

strategicplans.Sixhigh-riskdistrictshave

alsohadindividualClimateAction

uptakeandwhichcountriesareinvolved.

monitoring).TheRegistrywillbebasedontheActionIntelligenceFrameworkandIfH

continuestoprovideguidanceandsupporttotheplanningofthisnationalproject.

Insomecontexts,amonitoringfocusisimportant(e.g.whatprojectsarebeingimplemented

bywhichactors),whileinothercontextsthesense-makingfocusisimportant(e.g.whyarewerepeatingthesameprojecteveryfewyears?).

Itisalsoimportanttoassesstheresourcesthatthecountryispreparedtoextendfor

implementingtheAIprocess.Isittobeaone-offexercisetosupportaspecificpolicy

initiative?Willongoingmonitoringofactionbecriticalforfuturedecision-makingorpolicy

Thelength,durationandresourcesrequiredforthedatacollectionphasearedependentontheresultsofthepreviousphase.Typically,alocalAIteamworksbetween1to4monthsto

collect,extractandcategorizedataintoanorganizeddataset.Insomecaseshowever,core

datasetsalreadyexistandthefocusthenbecomeshowthisdatacanbeenhanced,extended

orreutilizedforricheranalysis.

Remoteandlocaltechnicalsupportisprovidedintheuseoftools,updatestotemplates,the

applicationofsurveytools,specialistdatamanipulationfordatafromvariousdatasetsetc.

AnalysisPhase

Analysisisaspecialistskillanddifferentcountriesbringdifferentmixesofcapability

togethertoanalyzeandreviewinsights.

Insomecases,existingleadershipteamsmaywanttousethedatatosupportcoordination

andcrosscuttingdecision-making,orpolicymakersmaywanttoanalyzethedata.Insome

contexts,countriesmaydecidetopublishtheirdatasetonline.

Dependingonthechoicespreviouslymade,countrieswilleitherbuildtheirowncapacityto

doanalysisortheymayrequestexternalanalysisbecarriedoutwiththeresultsbeingmade
