AS DISTANCE LEARNER’S YOU MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH TECHNOLOGYTo be successful as a distance learner it is imperative that you understand how to use media technology. This might mean that you have to take an active role in your learning role. There are many helpful tutorials out there if you feel you need additional assistance with learning the technology. Once again it is your responsibility as a distance learner to take an active role in your learning.

LEARNING MODALITIESIt is important for a successful distance learner to understand the way that they learn best and through which mode of learning. I have provided a quiz for each of you to take that will assist you further in understanding what sort of learner you are.

WHAT SORT OF LEARNER ARE YOU?By now you should have an idea of the sort of learning category you fit into. Most learners don’t fit into one particular category but more than one. Visual learners: The visual learning style, often referred to as the spatial learning style, is a way of learning in which information is associated with images. This learning style requires that learners first see what they are expected to know (Spanella, T., 2003).Auditory learners: you learn by hearing and listening. You understand and remember things you have heard. You store information by the way it sounds, and you have an easier time understanding spoken instructions than written ones.Kinesthetic: or tactile Learning is a learning style in which learning takes place by the students carrying out physical activities, rather than listening to a lecture or watching demonstrations.
