Community Garden
Students prepare soil and plant some swiss chard, & broccoli. We put the name of each plant on little popsicle sticks and every student cooperates. Some students are planting and other students are writing the plant’s name.
Students are planning and designing the garden bed form.Students give different designs of garden beds but we decided to build the garden bed from this form.
Sidronio, Bien, Edwin, and Hung are building the garden bed.
The garden bed is ready and there we planted different vegetables in each part of the garden bed. We planted some onions, peppers, and Swiss chard.
Abraham, Sinai, Juan Carlos, Rosmeri, Roque, Martha,& Rosario are filling the buckets of soil for planting.
Ms.Mabe gave us the opportunity of cooking butternut squash soup.We helped Ms. Mabe to cook. Some students cut butternut squash and other students put the ingredients in the soup.
We make a worm tea to protect plants from some pests. We sprayed every plant with a plastic bottle full of worm tea.
Students are transplanting some Swiss Chard in the field. Some students make holes, and other students were put the plants in it. All the students cooperate to transplant this vegetables.
Students are painting garden signs and interacting with each other. Every student painted their own sign in different forms. We wee excited when we painted with different colors.
These are some minerals that we used for plant growth. We used these minerals each time that we needed plant vegetables.
Conclusion.
In this project I want to publicize the benefits you can have from a school garden. People often believe that a garden at a school has no relevance or may not be interesting for students, but every student has different points of view and my opinion every school should create or maintain an active a community garden. In a garden, students have interaction with each other, and that is one of the many benefits that a community garden can offer.
