The institutional data is displayed on this frame, ultimately putting an emphasis on the darkness, darkness is a major theme in the institution, and ‘DreamWorks’ the institution is distorted in a sense that it reflects the overall idea of ‘the ring’ as you can see below. The certain lines you can see in the symbol DreamWorks creates a feeling of unease and distortion.

This frame is a long shot which represents insecurity surrounding the house in particular, the darkness which shrouds the house suggests evil is going enter the house or something bad is going to happen. The light which are on in the room where the window is shown suggests that the drama and horror is going to happen, suggests where the next frame is going to take place.

This frame shows the two girls watching something on the TV, the room is dark which conveys tension within the audience, the girls in the frame are lit up which emphasizes their role and they are ultimately the victims in the opening of the film. The expressions on the faces of the girls as well represent the atmosphere in the room is eerie and the straight faces emphasizes that.

Over the shoulder shot of the girl and their conversation, the whole black colour and how it represents fear and evil is shown here, the girls hair is black and her clothing is black which shows she is going to be subject to evil later on. The facial expression on the girls face is also tense and looks scared, because it is straight; which emphasizes the certain fear in her.

This frame shows a close up shot of the girls facial expression, her mouth is open illustrating her shock and fear for what she is looking at and the overall sense of fear which shrouds her character.

The background light also represents some kind of supernatural element, as the light is not there in the previous scenes and the colour is white, which represents an occurring supernatural threat.

This frame represents and emphasizes the certain element of time which is key in the certain film in particular, the close up shot of the clock and its surroundings also show a shadow overhanging over the clock which represents the link between the darkness and the time in particular.

This frame shows a long shot of the character walking down the hallway, the shot really emphasizes the aspect of a confined space, like there is no where to run and escape too. Aside from that point, the darkness also illustrates the certain feeling of fear which surrounds the character shown in the shot, you cant see her face which also represents fear and mystery.

This frame shows a p.o.v shot looking into the living showing the picture on the TV to be distorted, which represents and starts a certain eerie tension within the character and particularly the audience. The element of darkness and the colour black is also shown here, coincidentally surrounding the TV with the distorted picture which shows that there is a link with the darkness and the TV in particular.

This frame is a long shot which represents the fear and insecurity of the character in the distance, the hallway also represents how the area is confined and the victim cant escape ultimately. Also the water is shown on the floor with the reflection as a light, which represents the fear element behind the puddle and the supernatural element linked to it.
