Fr. Stanley Poltorak
Dear Parishioners of Presentation Parish, You might be wondering about your new pastor, so I would like to take this opportunity to introduce my-
self. My name is Fr. Stanley Poltorak and I was born in Kra-kow, Poland. At the age of 14, I immigrated to the United States and lived with my mother in St. James Parish in Davis, CA. I attended Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA and graduated from Dominican School of Theology in 1982. In June of 1982, I was ordained priest at St. James Parish in Davis. During my priestly ministry, I served at St. Therese Parish in Alhambra, CA; El Carmelo Retreat House in Redlands, CA; St. Therese in South Lake Tahoe, CA; St. Vincent Parish in Valle-jo; Assumption Parish in Truckee, CA; and for the last 7 years as pastor of SS Peter & Paul in Rocklin, CA. As I begin my ministry here at Presentation Parish I ask for your prayers, confident that the Lord will bless us on our jour-ney. I already met the parish staff, the Dominican Sisters who serve our school, and some of you as well. I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you. That will take time, my effort, and your help. Together we will build upon the legacy of Fr. Jeremy Leatherby and other priests who served here over the years. I am in great admiration of the wonderful community that is here serving the Lord, following the great example of the Blessed Mother, the great disciple: “Let it be done to me according to your word”. It is my hope that we will continue to strengthen and support the commitment to support our Catholic School, Faith For-mation, Social Concerns, Youth participation, Liturgy and the various ministries to accomplish these undertakings. I am confident that together with Deacon Lawrence, parish staff, and various parish organizations we will succeed in serv-ing the Lord and one another and to that end I ask our patron Blessed Virgin Mary to sustain us in our Mission. With God’s Blessings, Fr. Stanley Poltorak

Deacon Lawrence Klimecki
There are times when, despite our best efforts, we fail. Even though we know that our min-istry is desperately needed, we are sometimes rejected.
Jesus told us to work hard. He told us there would be difficulties because we are as lambs going out among wolves. He cautioned us to put our trust in God, not in our own resources. And He en-couraged us to stay focused on our mission and avoid distractions.
And even though we go out well pre-pared, He told us that we would en-counter rejection.
But we are prepared for this as well.
How does a Christian deal with failure? As Christ told us, we shake the dust from our feet and move on. We are bearers of the Good News, and every person is free to embrace or reject God’s grace. Christ Himself could not convince everyone to follow Him, should we expect anything different?
One of the greatest threats against us is discouragement. It is easy to feel we did something wrong, or we are not up to the task. If we let these thoughts set-tle into our hearts they stifle us and make us content to accept less.
The truth is that discouragement is just disappointment over unfulfilled expec-tations. But Christ reminds us of what are expectations should be. We will face obstacles, be rejected and perse-cuted. If we know this then we need not be discouraged. We can be humble, trust in Christ, wipe the dust from our feet, and move on.
Pax Vobiscum

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
If you’ve been coming to Mass for a while, but are not Catholic, we invite you to look deeper into the Catholic faith. Come meet some faithful Catholics who love the
Lord and would consider it a privilege to get to know you.
Our parish has begun a set of sessions to share with others the truths of the Catholic faith and the fellowship of our church family. These sessions also are opportunities
for you to ask those perplexing and difficult questions you may have about the Church.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for our Independence
“Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech you that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of your favor and glad to do your will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and
pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes
brought hither out of many kindred’s and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom your Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that,
through obedience to your law, we may show forth your praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness and in the day of trouble, do not allow our trust
in you to fall; all this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.” AMEN!
