The UGANDA Context
• Uganda has at least an estimated1,000,000 non-farm micro and small enterprises employing over
2 million people.
• Our MSE needs assessment study, carried out on 160 enterprises in 2008, revealed that in Kampala alone 97.5% of those interviewed want to be trained on how to manage a business.

• 88% of those interviewed only keep manual records of their business, 73.5% of them would be willing to pay a fee to learn bookkeeping
• some 71% would be interested in renting a small office where they can keep their books and prepare their business plans.
