Chess4 – a class team tournament for grade 4

Goals• To create a group mentality in the class• Strengthen self esteem• Teach good behaviour• Encourage EVERYONE to participate

Chess4 – How does it work?• Every class is offered an one hour visit by an instructor to
learn how to play chess• They get a chessbox with 5 chess sets• They practise during autumn and decide if they want to
participate• In the beginning of spring the class gets a new visit for
one hour to learn more• Town – District – Final

Chess4 – The secrets• A tournament about being as many as possible• 1-2-3 point system• Coefficient system: compare class list with actual
participants.• In the Town qualification – qualifing by reaching a sum of
points• Prizes to everyone• Swedish Chess Federation gets money for members and
clubs

Chess4 - Results 2017/18• 18 000 children participating and 29 000 learned how to
play chess• 1/3 of the population• 100 qualification tournaments• 2 500 children in the final • Chess4 in all districts• www.schackfyran.se
