Combat HIV /AIDS, Malaria

& other Disease


Key Point: MGD-6

Target: halt and start to reduce the incidence of Malaria which kills over 1 million people annually, 80% are under fives in sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2007, 33.2 million people were living with HIV

Malaria kills a child every 30 seconds. It infects

350-500 million people each year, killing 1 million.

250 m. Bed nets gives 80% coverage in sub-Saharan

MGD- 7-----promote sustainable development, and has the target of halving the proportion of

people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation, and bringing

about a significant improvement in the lives of slum dwellers.

Target: halve by 2015 the proportion of people without safe

drinking water.

2.5 billion people-nearly half the population of the

developing world-live without adequate sanitation

By 2025 it is expected that 3.4 billion People will be living

in countries defined as water-scarce
