Dyeing
All hanks of wool yarn were sent from Bikaner to Bhadohi (in the central Indian state of Uttar Pradesh). the dyeing process takes an average oftwo to three days.
Opening is the process of making spindles from the hanks of dyed yarn. The yarn is transported daily from the dyeing centers to the Jaipur Rugs headquarters to one of five opening centers.
Opening
FinishingAfter coming off the loom, all rugs are transported to one of four finishing centers in Jaipur. At the finishing centers, techniques are employed to fix mistakes and accentuate highlights of the design
After the yarn has been made into spindles, it is kept in storage at the Jaipur Rugs office until it is transported (bundled in a bag with the design map) to one of the 7500 looms across seven states in north and west India. With very few exceptions, the artisans work in their own villages, either in their own home or in aneighboring home.
