    Introduction:

    NFL, a Schedule A and Mini Ratna Company, is the secondlargest producer of Nitrogenous Fertilizers in the Country with15.8% share in domestic production of Urea achieved in thecountry during 2009-10.

    NFL was incorporated on 23rd August 1974 with twomanufacturing Units at Bathinda and Panipat. Subsequently,on the reorganization of Fertilizer group of Companies in1978, the Nangal Unit of Fertilizer Corporation of India came

    under the NFL fold. The Company expanded its installedcapacity in 1988 by installing and commissioning of itsVijaipur gas based Plant in Madhya Pradesh .

    The Vijaipur Plant was a landmark achievement in projectmanagement in India. The plant was completed well within

    time and approved project cost. In recognition of thisachievement, the project was awarded the First Prize onExcellence in Project Management by Govt. of India.Subsequently the Vijaipur plant doubled its capacity to 14.52lakh MTs by commissioning Vijaipur Expansion Unit i.e.

    Vijaipur-II in 1997. The annual capacity was subsequently re-rated w.e.f. 1.4.2000 from 7.26 lakh MT of Urea to 8.64 lakh MT for Vijaipur-I & Vijaipur-II Plants each.

    Three of the Units Three of the Units are strategically located

    in the high consumption areas of Punjab and Haryana. TheCompany has an installed capacity of 32.31 lakh MT of Urea.The company produced 33.30 lakh tonnes of Urea andrecorded an annual sales turnover of Rs.5091 croresduring 2009-10.
