The idea of the Unification lined along the time the tumultuous fight of the
Romanian people.
In the 1st century BC, it appeared to the Geto-Dacians a very famous king, called Burebista, who
has managed to unite all the Geto-Dacian tribes through the developing there of a kingdom
stretching far beyond the Dniester to the Tisza, the Bug, which is the territory of Dacia, the ancestral
heart of the today Romania.

The political union of the Romanian Countries in 1600
represents a moment with large significances for our national
history.
The natural, unitary evolution of the Romanian medieval society
was materialized and fulfilled on the political plan, too, by the presence on the throne of the Romanian Country, Moldova and Transylvania of a single
ruler and prince: Michael the Brave.
He was the son of his actions, or how beautiful Nicolae Iorga
wrote in The History of Michael the Brave "Michael was, when he was found, where he had to be in order to fulfil what the fate has
kept for him".
After long debates,on January 5th, 1859,Alexandru Ioan Cuzawas elected as a prince
of Moldavia.
On January 24th,1859 Alexandru Ioan
Cuza was electedas a ruler of the
Romanian Country.
The Romanians achieved the Unification by choosing the same ruler: Alexandru Ioan Cuza. By the election of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the Romanian Principalities walked firmly on the track of modernity. Faced with the accomplished fact, the great powers will be forced to recognize the act of January 24th, 1859.
