Presentation of ProgressCharlotte SkinnerWhat industry would I like a career in?Throughout my school and college life, Graphic Design has been the career I would like to pursue.

While studying at University, I have a more detailed area of Graphic Design that I would like to work within. These are magazine layouts and design, and Product Branding/Design.Research in to Graphic Design Industry

Here is a list of typical skill sets needed within the Graphic Design industry. Product Branding and Magazine Layout all use these skills as part of their job role, and are communal for most areas within Graphic Design. Research in to Graphic Design Industry

Research in to Graphic Design IndustryIfyoucouldjobs.com displays many different job roles within Graphic Design and the average salary you are likely to receive for a particular job role.

All of the advertised jobs could be a possible career path for me as they all sit in the same category e.g. digital designer, product designer, senior visual designer.

Logo Research and DesignMy CV has made a lot of progress from the first designs to the final idea. On the left are the designs I came up with, and on the right is the final logo. I feel the final logo is most effective because it is extremely simple, but has angular elements to make it look modern. The lines catch the viewers attention and leads the eye to the rest of the logo.

Research of CVs/Business Cards in Graphic DesignI handpicked CVs from the Graphic Design industry that I felt stood out the most and were most creative.

Research of CVs/Business Cards in Graphic DesignI did the same for business cards in my industry. With these business cards, the front designs are minimalistic, with a simple logo laid on to a contrasting background. I would like to achieve this in my designs.

Showreel/CV/Business Card ProductionHere are my business card designs. They all fit with the theme on my blog, as well as my CV and show reel website when it is created. I went for a minimalistic design, and personally I prefer the portrait design as it is very clean, and my logo is the main focus of the design, to entice people to look at it. It also explains my job role on the front.

My final CV is to the right. It follows the same colour scheme for the rest of my products and is a professional, clean design. To the left is a draft version which is not as effective.

Strengths & Weaknesses of WorkStrengths:Broad skill set using Adobe Creative SuiteVery focused on work, stick to deadlines wellWeaknesses:Not as confident as I could be with talking to peopleNeed more industry experienceOpportunities:My skill set could land me in a range of job rolesMy industry is growing rapidlyThreats:Other people with more industry experience may have a better chance at getting a jobStrengths & Weaknesses of WorkMy strongest skill is using Adobe illustrator to create graphics such as logos, informative drawings and info graphics. I am also intermediate with Adobe InDesign, as I am using this software to create my dissertation artefact, which is a Digital Media Prospectus.Strengths & Weaknesses of WorkThese are info graphics I created in Adobe Illustrator in my third year. The project aim was to create a child and adult info graphic about a famous person. The design had to match the target audience, however convey the same styles and graphics so they flow. The leaves are used in both info graphics, and the style differs in maturity and information for each.

Strengths & Weaknesses of WorkThis is work in progress of my Digital Media prospectus. I liaised with the client and the front cover is finalised, however the inside is still shaping up and needs work. However here is the rough style it will take. So far the client (Kevin Curtis) is very pleased with progress and outcome.

What else needs to be completed?

If all goes to plan, this Gaant chart shows the completion of this unit in broken down parts. My blog will have to be updated regularly, right up until the hand in date of May. I am hoping for my business card and CV designs to be finalised by the end of March, giving me 2 months to send them off to be professionally printed and sent back to me. My website show reel will be similar to my working blog, where I will be updating this right up until the hand in date.
