The Freshwater Centre covers five different business areas.
Companies
The activities of The Freshwater Centre and AQUA are gathered in twofoundations: ”Den selvejende institution Ferskvandscentret” and ”Den selvejende institution AQUA”.
The two foundations have joint management, administration, IT and technical support, marketing, reception, café and restaurant.
In total, the two foundations employabout 60 staff.
The two foundations have joint Board of Directors and Chairman.
In the fall of 2014, The Freshwater Centre established DWTH Aps, which owns the subsidiary DWTH Asia Ptd Ltd in Singapore.
DWTH emerged from the Challenge:Water project.

Purpose of the Foundations
”Den selvejende institution Ferskvandscentret”
To create a national centre on environmental issues and related matters with focus on water environment, aiming at increasing its international activities.
Driving a meeting and conference centre and be responsible for the rental of commercial office space for small businesses.
”Den selvejende institution AQUA”
Driving a freshwater aquarium and a centre of experiences presentingknowledge and experiences on nature, environment and culture in regards to the freshwaters of Denmark.
Delivering inspirational and educational presentations based on nature experiences and involvement of guests.
Protecting and advancing animal and plant life by education, research and conservation.

The Challenge:Water Project
The Challenge:Water project (2012-2014) was run by The Freshwater Centre and funded by the Central Denmark Region and the European Union.
Challenge:Water was divided into a regional and a global part.
The purpose of the regional activities was to develop forward-looking solutions to meet future water challenges. Challenge:Water worked with Danish utilities and municipalities to identify the need for new water solutions. Activities ended on 31-12-2014.
The purpose of the global activities was to help SMEs in the Danish water sector in increasing their exports and innovation activities. The decision was made to establish a new sales and innovation platform in Singapore, Danish Water Technology House (DWTH). DWTH continues with funding from The Danish Industry Foundation (Industriens Fond).

Product Sales: Mycometer A/S

DWTH is driving sales activities on behalf of Mycometer A/S.
Currently, DWTH is selling Bactiquant, a rapid method for quantification of total bacteria in water and other liquid samples.
Focus market is on Singapore but DWTH will expand into new marketsin 2015.
Public Utility Board (PUB) is currrentlytesting Bactiquant and it is expectedthat they will become a loyal customer in the future.
Pilot Projects: Sorbisense A/S

Two pilot projects initiated via DWTH on behalf of Sorbisense A/S:
Project 1: Jurong Island groundwater modelling and riskassessment study of Jurong.
Project 2: Source tracking, monitoring and modelling of pollutants loads in Singapore.
The client is Public Utilities Board (PUB) in Singapore.
DWTH, DHI Water & Environment Singapore and NUS University of Singapore are managing the projects.

A Groundwater Mapping Group has been formed consisting of 11 Danish water companies (GEUS, Aarhus Universitet, GEO, DHI, TreVand, SkyTEM, DanAqua, EnviDanInternational, Aarhus Geophysics, IGIS and HF Jensen).
The group will hire a local Business Developer via DWTH Asia to handle business development in SoutheastAsia on the group’s behalf.
A Senior Business Developer / Project Manager in Denmark representingthe group will handle the sales process in close cooperation with the local Business Developer.
The group will have a virtual office at DWTH in Singapore.

DWTH officially started its operations on October 1, 2014 in collaborationwith The Danish Industry Foundation and The University of Southern Denmark.
A grant of DKK 7.9 million has beenprovided by The Danish Industry Foundation to support the operations of DWTH.
A revenue goal of DKK 17 millions.
DWTH is monitored by researchers at The University of Southern Denmark. The goal is to document and develop a cluster model for the strengthening of Danish exports.
