CELEBRATING THE PRAISES OF ALLAHAllah the All-Mighty has said:

''Therefore remember Me. I will remember you,and be grateful to Me and never be ungratefula d be g ate u to e a d e e be u g ate uto Me''. (2:152)

And He said:"O you who believe Remember Allah withO you who believe, Remember Allah with much remembrance again." (33:41)

And He said: "And the men and women who rememberAllah much with their hearts and tonguesAllah much with their hearts and tongues, Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward". (33:35)

The Prophet (SAWS) said:The Prophet (SAWS) said:"He who remembers his Rubb and he whodoes not remember his Rubb is like the living and the dead " (Al Bukhari Muslim-1/539)and the dead. (Al Bukhari, Muslim 1/539)

And He (SAWS) said:"Shall I not tell you about the best of your works, the purest of your possessions, yourworks, the purest of your possessions, your most elevated station, the thing that is better for you than spending your gold and silver {in the way of Allah} and better for you than{ y } ymeeting your enemies and slaying them and being slain?"

And He (SAWS) said:"All-mighty Allah says, 'I am with my slave when he thinks of Me and I am with him when he mentions Me. For if he mentions Me to himself, I have mentioned him to myself; and if he mentions Me in a gathering, I have mentioned him in a superior gathering. If he approaches Me by a hand's width, I approach him by an arm's length; and If he approaches Me by an arm's length; I approach him by a mile's length And if he comes toapproaches Me by an arm s length; I approach him by a mile s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I hasten to him swiftly." (Al-Bukhari 8/171)

Abdullah Bin Busr said that a man asked the Prophet, "O Allah's Messenger, there are so many ways that we are permitted to worship Allah. Please give me a simple thing that I can do." The p g p gProphet said:"Let your tongue always be moist with the remembrance of Allah."(At-Tirmidhi 5/458, Ibn Majah 2/317)And he said:"Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, will receive one Hasana, and one Hasana comes with ten like it. I do not say that Alif, Lam, Mim is a letter. Indeed AlifIs a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter." (At-Tirmidhi 5/175)

Uqba bin 'Amir said:''Whoever sits and does not mention the Name of Allah {before he rises} will find it aName of Allah {before he rises} will find it acause of sorrow. Whoever lies down to sleep and does not mention the Name of Allah before rising ill find it a ca se of sorro "before rising will find it a cause of sorrow."(Abu Dawud 4/264)

And the Prophet said:And the Prophet said:''Whoever sits in an assembly of people whodo not mention the Name of Allah in their gathering and who do not ask Allah for hisgathering and who do not ask Allah for his blessings on their Prophet, will find it a cause of sorrow. If He wishes He will punish them,

And the Prophet, said:"No people may rise from an assembly in

which they have failed to mention the Name of Allah without it being as if they were getting off a dead donkey's rotting back, and it would be a cause of affliction for them."(Ab D d 4/264)(Abu Dawud 4/264)

Invocation upon waking up from the Bed

•Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana wa ilaihin nushoor.nushoor.Praise is to a Allah Who revives us after causing us to die and resurrection is His.•La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu,Lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shai'in Qadeer.lahul hamdu, wa Huwa ala kulli shai in Qadeer. Subhanallahi, wal hamdu lillahi, wa lailaha illallahu, wallahu akbar, wa la haula wa la Quwwata illa billahil Aliyyil Azeem, RabbighfirliRabbighfirli.Meaning: There is no god but Allah Alone. He has no partner. His is dominion and His is praise, and He is Capable of all things. Glory is to Allah. Praise is to Allah. Allah is the Greatest. When waearing a garment

•Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi kasanihadha (aththauba) warazaqaneehi min ghairi

haulim-minni wa la quwwatin.M i P i i t All h h hMeaning: Praise is to Allah who has clothed me with this (garment) and provided me with it without strength

or power on my part.or power on my part.

All h L k l H d A t k t hi l k iAllahumma Lakal Hamdu Anta kasautaneehi, as-aluka min khairihee wa sharri ma sunia lahu.

Meaning: O Allah, for you is all praise, You have clothed me with it, I ask You for the good of it and the good for which it was made and Iask You for the good of it and the good for which it was made, and I seek refuge with You from the evil of it and the evil for which it was

made.

Supplication said to someone wearing a new garment

‘Tublee wa yukhlifullahuTa-Ala’

Meaning: “May you wear it out and Allah replace it (with another)

Ilbis jadeedan wa Eeshhameedan wa mut shaheedan.

Meaning: Wear a new, live commendablly and die a shahid.

Before undressinggBismillahiIn the name of Allah

Before entering the toilet

•Bismillahi, Allahumma inni a'udhu bikaminal Khubthi wal Khabaith.

Meaning: (Before entering) [In the Name of Allah] (then) Oh Allah, I seek

protection in You from male, and female devils.

After leaving the toiletg

Ghufranaka, I seek Your forgiveness.

•When starting Ablution

BismillahIn the Name of Allah

•Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasooluhu.

minal mutatahhireen. Meaning: Oh Allah, make me of those who return to g ,You often in repentance and make me of those remain clean and pure.’ Sub-hanakallahumma wa bihamdika Ash-hadu an Lailaha illa Anta,

As-taghfiruka wa atoobu ilaika.As taghfiruka wa atoobu ilaika.Meaning: ‘How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You. I seek Your forgiveness and trurn in repentance to You.’

When leaving the home

•Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la

haula wa la quwwata illa billah.Meaning: (I begin) with the Name of Allah, I

depend on Allah, there is no power and no strength save in Allahsave in Allah.

•Allahumma inni a'udhubika an adilla, aw odalla, aw azilla, aw uzalla aw adhlima aw , ,udhlama, aw ajhala aw yujhala alayya. Meaning: ‘Oh Allah, I seek refuge with You lest I should stray or be led astray; slip or be tripped; oppress or be oppressed, or behave foolishly or be treated foolishly.’

Supplication upon entering the home

•Subhanaka Allahumma wa bi hamdika, Ash- hadu an la ilaha illa Anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu gilaik.

Meaning: Glory is to You, Oh Allah, d P i I b Wit th t th iand Praise; I bear Witness that there is

no God but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.repentance.

Bismillahi walajna, Wa bismillahi kharajna,Bismillahi walajna, Wa bismillahi kharajna, wa 'ala Rbbina tawakkalna,

(thumma liyusallim 'ala Ahlihi.)Meaning: In the Name of Allah we enter, and in the name g ,

of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust.’ [and then one should greet his family with Salam ]

Going to the Mosque

Allahummaj-al fee qalbee nooran wa fee lisanee noora wa fee sam-Allahummaj-al fee qalbee nooran, wa fee lisanee noora, wa fee sam-yee noora, wa fee basaree noora, wa fee fouqee noora, wa min tahtee noora, wa an yameenee noora, wa an shimalee noora, wa min amamee noora, wa min khalfee noora, waj-al fee nafsee noora,amamee noora, wa min khalfee noora, waj al fee nafsee noora, wa a-azim lee noora, wa azzim lee noora, waj-al lee noora, waj-alnee noora, Allahumma a-atinee noora, waj-al fee asabee noora, wa fee lah-mee noora, wa fee damee noora, wa fee sha-ree noora, wa fee , , ,basharee noora. [Allahummaj-al lee nooran fee qabree wa nooran fee izamee] [wa zidnee noora, wa zidnee noora, wa zidnee noora] [wahab lee nooran ala noor]

Meaning: O Allah, place within my heart light; and upon my tongue light; and within my ears light; d ithi li ht d l b li ht d b th li ht d i ht li ht dand within my eyes light; and place above me light; and beneath me light; and on my right light; and

on my left light; and in front of me light; and behind me light ; and place light within my soul; and augment light for me; and greaten light for me; and grant me light and make me light; O Allah, bestow upon me light; and place light in my tendons; and light in my flesh; and light in my blood;bestow upon me light; and place light in my tendons; and light in my flesh; and light in my blood; and in light in my hair and light in my skin. ‘ [O Allah, place light for me in my grave and light in my bones] And increase me with light and increase me with light and increase me with light] [And grant me light upon light.]

9. Supplication upon entering a mosquepon entering the Mosque

• A'udhu billahil Azeem, wa bi Waj-hihilKareem, wa Sultanihil Qadeem, minash, Q ,shaitanir-rajeem.[Bismillahi, Was-Salatu Was-Salamu 'ala Rasulillahi] Allahummaftah li abwabaRahmatika.

Meaning: I take refuge with Allah, The Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His eternal authority from the acc rsed de il In the Name of Allah and pra ers andaccursed devil. In the Name of Allah and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah open the gates of Your mercy for me.

UPON LEAVING THE MOSQUE

Bismillahi Wassalatu Wassalamu Ala Rasoolillahi, Allahumma innee as-aluka min fadlika, Allahumma’(a)simnee

i h h i jminash-shaytanirrajeem.

Meaning: In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask You from Your favour O Allah guard meI ask You from Your favour. O Allah, guard me from the accursed devil.’

SUPPLICATIONS RELATED TO THE ADHAN [THE CALL TO PRAYER]

We should repeat the same as the mu’adhin [one who calls to prayer] says, except when he say Hayya Alassalati Hayya Alal Falahiy , p y yy yy

Meaning:’ Come to prayer ‘and ‘come to success’

We should say : La hawla wala quwwata illa billahi.

Meaning: ‘There is no might nor power except with Allah.’

Immediately following the declaration of faith called by the mu adhdhin, one should say,

‘Wa ana ash-hadu an la ilaha illallahu Wahdahoo la shareeka lahu wa anna Muhammadan ab-duhu wa Rasooluhu, Radeetu Billahi Rabban, wa be

Muhammadin Rasoolan, wa bil Islami deena.

Meaning : And I too bear witness that one has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, Without any partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. I am pleased with Allah as a Lord and Muhammad as a Messenger and Islam as apleased with Allah as a Lord, and Muhammad as a Messenger and Islam as a religion.’

One should say prayers on Prophet (SAWS)

Af i h ll f h ’ dhdhi ’After answering the call of the mu’adhdhin .

Allahumma Rabba Meaning: O Allah, O f thi f thadhihid

da’watittammati, wassalatil qa-imati,

Owner of this perfect call and Owner of this prayer to be performed, bestow upon

aati Muhammada, nil Waseelata wal fadeelata wab-ath-hu

bestow upon Muhammad al-wasilah(A station in paradise) al-fadilah ( A rank b th t fmuqamam

mahmooda, alladhee wa-adtahu, Innaka La t khlif l d

above the rest of creation) and send him upon a praised platform which You have

tukhliful mee-ad. promised him. [verily, You Never fail in Your promise].

SUPPLICATION WHEN ABOUT TO SLEEP

Allahumma qinee adhabaka yauma tab-athu ibadaka (3 times)

SLEEP

Meaning: ‘O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the day Your servants are resurrected.’

Bismikallahumma amootu wa ah-ya.

Meaning: ‘In Your name O Allah, I live and die.’

We should say ,33 times Sub-hanallah, (How perfect Allah is), ( p )33 times Alhamdu lillah, ( All praise is for Allah)34 times Allahu Akbar. (Allah is the greatest)

While sleeping this Supplication should be said

Allahumma Rabbissamawatissab-i, R bbil A hil A i R bb

Supplication should be said,

wa Rabbil Arshil Azeemi, Rabbana wa Rabbi kulli shay-in, faliqal habbi wannawa wa manzilattawrati wal Injeeli, wal furqani, a-oodhu Bika min sharri kulli shayin anta aakhidhum binasiyatihi Allahummaaakhidhum binasiyatihi. Allahumma antal awwalu Falaysa qab-laka shayun, wa antal aakhiru falaysa ba’daka shayun, wa antazzahiru falaysa fauqaka shayun, wa antal batinu falaysa doonaka shayun iq-batinu falaysa doonaka shayun, iq-di annaddaina Wa aghnina minal faqri.

Meaning: O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and the exalted throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, Splitter of the seed and the date stone, g pRevealer of the Tawrah, the Injil and the Furqan, I take refuge in You from the evil of all things You shall seize by the forelock. O Allah, You are the First so there is nothing before You and You are The Last so there is nothing after You. You are Az-Zahir so there is nothing above You and You are al- Batin so there is nothing closer than You. Settle our debt for us and spare us from poverty.

d th i i ifi f i l ti i t tand the insignificance of every single creation in respect to His greatness and Highness. For He is above all of His creation as regards His essence and attributes. Al-Batin: Indicates Allah’s awareness and knowledgeAl Batin: Indicates Allah s awareness and knowledge of all secrets, of that which is in the hearts and the most intimate of things just as it indicates His closeness and nearness to all in a manner which befits His majesty.

While Eating :

Alhamdulillahillazee At-amana

Allahumma Alimal ghaibi wash-Shahadatifatirassamawati wal ardi Rabbi kulli shayin

wa maleekahu, Ash-hadu al la ilaha illa antanwa saqana, wa kafana waaawaana fakum mimmallakafiya lahoo wala mooviya.

a-oodhu bika min sharri nafsee sooan au ajurrahoo ila muslim.

Meaning: ‘All praise is for Allah, Who fed us and gave us drink andand gave us drink, and Who is sufficient for us and has sheltered us, for how many have none to suffice them or shelter them.’

Meaning: ‘O Allah, Knower of the seen and the unseen, Creator of the heavens and the

th L d d S i f ll thi Iearth, Lord and Sovereign of all things I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evilfrom the evil of my soul and from the evil and shirk of the devil, and from committing wrong against my soul or bringing such upon another Muslim.

Before going to bed we should perform ablution, we should lie on our right side and then supplicate:

Allahumma aslamtu nafsee ilaika, wa fawwadtu amnee ilaika, wa wajjahtu waj-hiya ilaika, wa al ja-tu zahree il ik tilaika, aamantu bekitabikalladhee anzalta wa nabiyyikalladhee ArsaltaArsalta.

Meaning: ‘ O Allah, I submit my soul unto You, and I entrust my affair unto You, and I turn my face towards You, and I totally rely on You, in hope and fear of You. Verily there is no refuge nor safe haven from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.’

Supplication when truning over during the night:

La ilaha illallahul wahidul Qahharu, Rabbussamawati wal ardi wama

bainahumal Azeezul Ghaffar.

Upon Experiencing unrest, fear, apprehensiveness and the like during sleep

Aoodhu bekalimatillahittammati

min ghadabihee wa iqabihee, wa sharri

ibadihee wa min hamazatish-shayateeni

wa an yahduroon.’

Meaning: I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and punishment,

d f th il f Hiand from the evil of His servants, and from the madness and appearance of devils.’devils.

Allahumma innee a-oodhu beradaka min sakhatika, wa bemu afatika min aqoobatika,

Allahumma innee Abdukabnu amatika nasiyatee beyadika madin fiyya hukmuka, ad-lun q

wa a-oodhubika minka, la uhsee thana an Alaika, Anta kama

athnaita ala nafsika

yyfiyya qadauka as-aluka bikullismin huwa laka sammaita bihee nafsaka au anzaltahu fee athnaita ala nafsika.

Meaning : ‘O Allah I take

kitabika, au allamthu ahadan min khalqika awista-tharta bihee fee ilmil ghaibi indaka an

In Anxiety and Meaning : O Allah, I take refuge within Your pleasure from Your displeasure and within

taj-alal qur’aana rabeea qalbee, wa noora sad’ree, wa jala-a huznee wa dhahaba hammee.’

In Anxiety and sorrow

Your pardon from Your punishment, and I take refuge in You from You. I cannot enumerate Yourcannot enumerate Your praise. You are as You have praised Yourself. ‘

Meaning: ‘ O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your Maidservant, my forelock is in Your hand Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is j t I k Y b b l i t Y hi h Yjust. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make thethe knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur’an the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety.

In Anxiety and sorrow

Allahumma innee a-oodhubika minal hammi wal

Meaning: ‘ O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness,

huzni wal aj-zi wal kasli walbukhli wal jub-ni wa dal-iddaini wa ghalabatirrijal.

weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being over powered by men.’

Supplication for one in distress

La ilaha illallahul Adheemul haleemu, La ilaha illallahu Rabbul ArshilAdheemi, La ilaha illallahu Rabbussamawati wa Rabbul ardi wa

Rabbul Arshil Kareem.

Meaning: ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, The Supreme, The Most-F b i N h th i ht t b hi d t All h L d f th ifi tForbearing. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the magnificent throne. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the noble throne.’

Supplications for one in distress

Allahumma Rahmataka arjoo fala takilnee ila nafsee tarfata ainin, wa aslih lee sha-nee kullahu, La ilaha illa Anta.

La ilaha illa AntaLa ilaha illa Anta Sub-hanaka innee kuntu minadh-minadhdhalimeen.

Meaning: ‘ None hasMeaning: None has the right to be worshipped except You.

Meaning: ‘O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in You.

How perfect You are, verilyI was among the

charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me g

wrong-doers.’ all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You.
