The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) are a set of guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for teachers to go by when constructing lesson plans.

TEKS: Rule-Text Format

(3) The student identifies the importance of a well-written business plan. The student is expected to:

(A) categorize a business plan and the need for a well-orchestrated business plan

(B) research business plan outlines, resources and templates using web search engines

(C) explain a marketing plan, including price competition, non-price competition, market analysis, competition, marketing research, market segmentation, demographics and sales forecasting

Service Learning Projects can benefit all individuals involved: students, parents, teachers and community members. Homework Helpers is a group of students who share specific areas of expertise (computer skills, math, English or art) and help tutor younger grade levels. PALS pairs middle or high school students with elementary students for tutoring. For more information, visit http://palusa.org. Celebrate and promote Random Acts of Kindness Week. Create student-made books to donate to an early childhood or Head Start facility. These pre-reading books can consist of menus, logos, and pictures of places in the neighborhood that would be familiar to the children. Simply laminate the pictures or place them in plastic sleeves. Add cardboard covers (cereal boxes work well) and rings to create an “I Can Read” book for two- and three-year-olds.
