Where are stars born?
vocabulary
Nebulae:a cloud of interstellar gas and dust. Glow: a light emitted by a substance heated to
luminosity; incandescence. Scatter: distribute in irregular parts, or to
separate in various directions. Dim: not bright; lack of light or emitted light. Twinkle:
to shine with a flickering gleam of light. Shrinks: to contract or lessen in size.
Firstly ¿what is a star?
Stars are big glowing balls of gas, scattered throughout space. they are all so distant that we can see stars only as points of light in the night sky.
How are stars born ? The Stars are born
when the gas in the space draw together by their own gravity, and this process generate a nuclear fusion, due to the squeeze in the middle of the stars that reach the temperatures of 10 million C.
Where are stars born? In the space are vast clouds of dust and
gas called nebulae, the clouds are 99% hydrogen and helium with other gases.
Stars are born in the biggest part of this nebulae , which are called GIANT MOLECULAR CLOUDS , here temperatures plunge (-263 C).these nebulae are thin and cold. But contain materials needed to make a star.
Where is the nearest star?• The nearest star apart from the sun is over 25
trillion miles .and it’s called Centaury.
How many stars are there?
It’s hard to know how many stars there are in the universe but astronomer guess there are about 200 billion billion.
What is the biggest star? The biggest are the supergiants , and the biggest
one is ANTARES in the constellation of Scorpius and it is 700 times as big as the sun
What are constellations?
Constellations are small patters of stars in the sky , each with its own name, they are useful to locate things in the night sky.
How hot is a star ?
• The coolest temperature star is below 3.500 C• And the hottest is over 40.000 C
What make stars glow?
• They glow for the enormous nuclear fusion reactions inside them, releasing huge quantities of energy.
What color are stars?
It depends how hot they are. But from hot they are blue-white star to cool and dim red stars.
What makes stars twinkle?• Stars twinkle because the earth’s atmosphere
is never still, light from nearby planets is not distorted as much so the don’t twinkle.
Thank you
