    Gender mainstreaming: The NDRRMP is committedto promoting gender-sensitive vulnerability andcapacity-analysis in all disaster risk reduction and

    management activities. It encourages balancing theroles, responsibilities, needs, interests, capacities of andeffect on both genders of contingency plans as well asimplementation of community-based activities. Gender

    mainstreaming is about reducing the vulnerabilities ofmen and women to disasters and encourages a balancein the participation and decision making roles of menand women in DRRM.
