  • WRITING ACHIEVEMENT TESTSWriting a test is an important job that demands skill and patience. Good tests show both teacher and students how well they are all doing. There are 4 golden rules which teachers should bear in mind when preparing the tests

  • 1) Dont Test What You Havent TaughtThe purpose of an achievement test:assessing the products of learning.

    It is unfair to test things that students havent been exposed to: - Confusing - Demotivating

  • 2) Dont test general knowledgeRemember that you are testing students knowledge of English !Does not effective in educational qualityNot related to subject area/ topic

  • 3) Dont introduce new techniques in testsConfusing pupilsThe activity must be done in class beforeDifficult to understand question which have nothing to do with their knpwledge

  • 4) Dont forget to test the testDont create a test and give it straight to the studentsDont create a test which is far too difficult or too easy Do write clear instructionsDo ensure that the test works if it is important to the studentsDo show the test to colleague to help spot problems or misprints
