Transcript of Presentation about renewable energy sources POLAND

Hydropower - economically used mechanical energy of flowing water. Today, hydropower is usually processed into electricity.

Geothermal energy - the thermal energy of the rocks located in the interior of the Earth, known to renewable energy sources. Is charged for using wells to which cold water is forced and received hot after heat exchange with the hot rocks. It also serves as a natural source of heat in the thermal baths.

Solar Energy - industry in dealing with the use of solar energy is classified as renewable energy sources. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century is growing at about 40% per year. In 2013, the total installed capacity of solar cells was 139 GW (an increase of 36.8% compared to 2012) and they meet the 0.5% of global electricity demand.

Wind energy - kinetic energy of moving air masses, known to renewable energy sources. Is converted into electricity using wind turbines, as well as mechanical energy used in windmills and wind pumps, as well as the prime mover in sailboats.

Biomass - means the biodegradable fraction of products, waste and residues from agriculture (including substances of plant and animal), forestry and related industries including fisheries and aquaculture, as well as biogas and the biodegradable fraction of industrial and municipal waste.

OTEC - the technology to recover the thermal energy stored in the oceans, and carefully use the difference in temperature between the colder waters of the deep and warmer surface water. For this purpose, a heat engine that converts thermal energy (heat) in mechanical or electrical energy.
