MY WORK EXPERIENCE During my time at Springfield School I had work experience

at Court Lane Junior School. This helped me to gain confidence and gave me skills such as to be able to take groups on my own and teach and also helped me to be more organized as I had the chance to plan lessons with the teacher.

During my time at South Downs I am still yet to get work experience. However I did create a CV and cover letter for Portsmouth News and did send it off via email but am still waiting for a response at the moment.

INSTAGRAM I made my own photography inspired Instagram

called @JPhotography19. On here I post regular photos that I take out and about. I post them on the app Instagram to hopefully gain followers and likes from those who like my work. I have always been interested in Photography so thought this was a good idea to share my passion with the world.

MY INSPIRATION I have always been interested in the media industry always

looking up and into stories online and reading celebrities interviews they have participated in. I have also be inspired by my dad who is on a local radio station named The Flash. Every Friday and Saturday he has a show on live and this is something he has always wanted to do and I hope to follow in the same footsteps.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY RESEARCH In the media industry it is so important to do research. The

main two are called Primary and Secondary research. Primary research is  carried out to answer specific issues or questions. It can involve questionnaires, surveys or interviews with individuals or small groups. Where as Secondary research is more about looking through books for research or even on the internet. However you have to be more careful with Secondary research as some of your resources can’t always be trusted and with Primary research it is more time consuming.

MAGAZINE PROJECTThis is an example of some of the work I have done. This has been my most recent piece where I had to make a front page of a magazine and a double page spread from scratch. When creating this I was kept in mind the target audience of young teens that this will be targeted towards making the headlines related to what they would want to read about that age and making it a fun, catchy name to remember.

MORE ABOUT MY MAGAZINE When first starting out my magazine I planned it all out on a flat plan

to figure out where I would want each of the headlines to be placed, the main image and the barcode. I did a flat plan for the front cover and double page spread as I thought it would help me to eventually go into Photoshop and create it. I decided to choose a text that was bold and thin, similar to the ELLE style writing. I chose a simple choice of text so it would be easy to read off a shelf and draw the audience in. I took both images myself. When taking it I made sure for the front cover image she used direct address so it would feel more personal for the audience. For the double page spread image I made her look down at the phone as the interview I took was very social media related so I felt it fit well with the theme of what I was writing about. When writing for the audience I made the double page spread in a style of an interview. I felt this was the best choice because it isn’t too overwhelming for the young audience to read and the ‘Q&A’ style of writing is something that audience would be interested in reading.

I used the programme Photoshop to create both my magazine cover and double page spread. I scrolled through many different text options till I found the perfect one that I felt matched my initial idea. I cut out the model Maddy from the background with the magic wand tool and using the plus and minus to get it exact. I chose to do this as I thought it would look more professional. With the layout I made sure all the text was the same size to make it all fit in well together. I also slightly placed Maddy’s head over the title to make it look like she is more important so therefore should be in front of the title. I got this inspiration when looking at other existing magazines. For the front cover and double page spread I took a mid-shot camera angel of Maddy to make it so you still clearly see all her facial features but also the clothes as this is mostly a fashion magazine. I find using Photoshop a really creative way of laying out my magazine and making it look as professional as I could.
