    Some Rules to Prepare PPT, Slides,etc.Rule 1. Be concise and simple.

    1. One topic for one transparency

    2. 15-20 words ( max of 7 words by 7 lines) per transparency

    3. 2-5 minutes per transparency ( 12-30 transp. for an hour)

    Rule 2. Avoid premature optimization. Get the contents

    right first, and then make your slides look pretty.

    1. Print neatly, do not use cursive writing.

    2. Choose fonts that are easy to read.3. Check spelling and grammar.

    4. Choose diagrams, charts or pictures with neat layout. Useone image per page.

    5. Use colors effectively.

    Rule 3. Use a big letter size or else point 28

    1. Make visual aids big enough to see. 24 point

    2. To test the size of your visual aids, check 1 inch to 10

    foot rule: For every 10 foot away the audience is from

    the screen, letters or symbols should be 1 inch high

    on the screen.

    Rule 4. Your slides should be visually appealing.

    1. A picture is almost always better than text.

    2. Colors can be very appealing but must be used with

    care. Over-use of color can however be distracting.

    Handout

    1. Handout should be kept to a reasonable

    length

    no more than one side of A4 and two sides

    maximum.

    2. The purpose of handout is to convey items

    you might want to refer to.

    3. You can also use a handout to reinforce thestructure of your talk.

    The more you practice the more comfortable

    you feel in front of the audience.2. Timing of your presentation is very important.

    Material ConveyingAt the beginning of your presentation express thanks to

    chairman, state your name, institution and title of your

    presentation. Three elements of presentation include:introduction, explanation of methods and closure.

    1. Focus the attention of audience on the subject.

    2. Create an organizing framework for the information

    that follows : overview, study area, research

    methodology, results and conclusions.

    3. Stimulate interest and involvement of audience in the

    presentation.

    Behavior in Conveying

    Attitude andbody language play quite a big part in thesuccess-fulness of a presentation. Some hints to perfectyour day at the stage are as follows:

    Gaining the Audiences Interest

    Attract interest and direct the groups attention to your topic.

    Interacting with the Audience

    Rule 1.Look at the audience and seek eye contact with them.

    Rule 2.Make sure the audience can always see the screen.

    Rule 3.Make it look like you are having a good time.

    Rule 4.Do not try too hard to be funny.

    An important aspect of giving a talk is dealing

    with questions.

    1. Questions are a good thing.

    2. Allow the person who is asking a question tofinish his sentence.

    3. It is acceptable to say that you do not know

    the answer.

    1. Repeat or paraphrase the question so that

    you are sure you understand it.

    After each talk, evaluation sheets are distributed

    on which everyone will be asked to evaluate the

    presentation. From such sheet you could then

    summarize the audience evaluations, comments,

    and provide a summary to the speaker. The

    evaluations are expected to be frank and

    constructive.These evaluations will allow you to get feedback

    on how the audience reacts to and perceives

    your presentation.
