Prescription for a Learning Problem: The School in a Local Village

    Proposed solution:

During one year kids will have activities that enhance the advantages of working in groups,

activities that have a focus on nurturing creativity.

In groups they must present a final project at the end of the year (a theatre piece, music, a

local project, a game). The final projects will have a school tutor (teacher) and one family tutor

(family member). Meetings, brainstorming sessions and peer reviews should evaluate how the

workgroup and interactions are going on.

The parents participation in some activities is strongly recommended. It's important to make

them aware of the propose of this curricular class, the openness to "free" development of

    their sons.

Its also important to have a technology literacy class for parents.

Childrens and Parents should be encouraged to exchange information about local needs and

    traditions.

When the projects are finished they all are presented at Main campus and also on the village.

Weekly online classes with peers studying in the Main campus should serve to exchange views

    around each class project.

The class will also have online workshops with tutors working on Main campus.

The class will work on a daily bases around conversations, soft skills development, games and

quests, unusual questions to solve, manual work, voice lab and development, arts tutoring,

enigmas that need logic to solve, sculpture, drawing, photography etc.

At the end of the day they all assemble and talk of the highs and lows of the day and what can

    be improved next day.

The curricular class should involve formal and informal learnings. Every week some parents

must be encouraged to tell a story to class about their must significant learnings, and

explaining the meaning of life experience as a constant and changing school.

All practices are encouraged to be in English, and all the teachers have to be fluent in this

    language.

The assignments will be measured by different inputs, parents and tutor evaluations, peer

reviews and exchanging dialogues with schoolmates on Main Campus.

Class and teachers can take advantage to a monthly week working on Main campus.

To overcome the isolating of Staff must be created a local think tank to improve new education

practices. These think tank reunites parents, teachers from other schools, local entrepreneurs

etc. The teachers will also be encouraged to develop an annual project with colleagues at the

    Main Campus.

The school will have an international exchange program to receive kids from other countries.

About environmental conditions, the activities must deal with the dilemma of how to improve

a small villa, how to take part of the forest, which activities can serve as a different model to

exchange with the perspectives assembled by peers on Main campus.

For a better access to information and technology, school must invest and search for funding

for technology (internet access, handheld devices, interactive white boards and computers...)

If there's a structural impossibility to have this tech working, then students should make the

practices and creativity interaction in the village school and the tech classes on Main.

This school must be a model of clean energy use.

The school will not have traditional classes, but spaces that nurture creativity, like the
