Little Sunshine

In Term 1, our little sunshine were exposed to the theme “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear”. Our infant Educarers conducted fun activities for them in line with their developmental milestones.

Infants were given plush toys for them to explore during their pretend play with peers. The non-mobile infants

were being exposed to puppet play lead by the Educarers. These activities gave them the opportunities to develop their social and emotional skills. They were also seen to have expressed their feelings through their

facial expressions as well as body and hand gestures.

Activity Name: Puppet Play

Sensory: Herbs smelling To develop a sense of wonder and curiosity.

Besides the lessons planned and conducted by our team of Educarers, our little sunshine also enjoyed exploring the different play areas to support the learning domains namely Social, Physical,

Intellectual, Creative Expressions as well as Emotional development, (S.P.I.C.E.D). The activities would vary from time to time in accordance to the curriculum’s theme.

Physical: Gym Play Children persevered to complete

the obstacle course.

Intellectual: Storytelling Children engaged in picture book

storytelling.

Creative Expression & Social: Scribbling Children expressed themselves through

scribbling with their peers.

Twinkly Two-s! After the Orientation phase at the start of the year, all activities were created based on the

broad theme “All about me”. Children were mostly engaged in activities that required them to work along side their peers to understand self and others better. Activities planned were also

developmentally age appropriate which supports the different learning domains namely Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative Expressions as well as Emotional Development, (S.P.I.C.E.D).

It was such an engaging experience for every outdoor play. This activity helps in their physical – gross motor development as well as social skills,

as they practiced turn taking.

Children were seen to be engaged in small group play. This activity also

helps enhance their intellectual skills as they persevere to stack the blocks

to build a tower.

Children were exposed to the different types of musical instruments during

their Music lessons, where children were free to share their emotions and creative

expressions.

Children were also being encouraged to build-up on their self-help skills such as self-feeding,

dressing & undressing and putting on and taking off their own footwear.

Fun at One Nursery 1...

For this term, the Nursery 1 children were given opportunities to enhance their different developmental domains as they were engaged in a variety of hands-on activities. Come and see

some of the activity highlights for this term!

The N1 children were exposed to water play and spray-painting. For the water play activity, children had fun transferring the water from one container to another container by squeezing

out the water from the sponge after the sponge had absorbed the water from the first container. And for the spray-painting, they were seen to be excited to spray the mahjong paper with the

water that had been mixed with green paint.

Bang the Beat

For this term, Nursery 1 had the opportunity to explore the different musical instruments. They had fun and enjoyed themselves in beating

And shaking the instruments together with their peers.

N2resting!

The N2s explored their different senses during their Nature Walk. They touched the leaves and smell them

too.

Feel the Pebbles! N2 children walked on the pebbles and they described what they felt using their

senses. The N2s enjoyed the activity as they giggled while

walking with their peers.

The N2s had fun during their Pretend Play activity

called “Doctor on The Go”. This had helped them to

enhance their communication skills and

creativity.

Learning through manipulatives, the N2’s

were using their thinking skills to solve problems. The activity had helped them to enhance their reflexes and eye-hand coordination as well .

Singing and shaking their feet and hands, the children

had so much enjoyment.

Theme: Bodyworks Activity: Hungry Hungry Drama Workshop Post Activity Following up from the Hungry Hungry Drama Workshop on 22 February, where children were exposed to dramatization and body movements, children did a craft activity. They made beautiful butterflies inspired by the butterfly in the book, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. Children demonstrated different art skills as they worked with a variety of elements such as the different shapes, textures that were soft and feathery, colours and lines to create their own imaginary butterflies.

Theme: Bodyworks Activity: Donut Oh Donut The dramatic learning centre in the classroom serves as a platform where children interact with their peers. Children can also relate to their prior experiences and creating new experiences with their peers as they explored the dramatic learning centre. This also improves their language and cognitive skills.

Theme: Myself and I Activity: Thumb prints

It might be difficult to see your uniqueness especially when you were from the same race, gender or age

group. But our K2 children knew that they were made special and different in their own ways. The one

manifestation of this was their individual thumb prints! I am special, I am Me!

K2 Rangers

Discovering is fun! With the goopy, slimy corn starch and water

mixture, “we learned that temperature can change the

texture”.

“We’re fit, we’re bright, it’s good to be physically right”. During the outdoor game

children learned kicking, dribbling and striking while maintaining their balance.

“I’m taller than… ”, “It’s shorter than . . .” We can compare them all! Children were exposed to standard and non-standard

measurements of height and size.

通过对华人新年的了解,大班的幼儿知道了新年的时候要挂灯笼、

放烟花。

在学习关于华人新年的过程中,豆豆班的幼儿认识

了灯笼。

在学习华人新年的过程中,小班的幼儿知道了挂饰“鱼”代表的是年年有余的意思。

了解了华人新年后,中班的幼儿们知道了年、吉、春这几个字所代表的含义。

Bahasa & Budaya

Pada penggal ini, salah satu aktiviti yang dilakukan oleh murid-murid Nurseri 1 adalah mengenali tentang pakaian tradisional mereka. Mereka diperkenalkan pada pakaian tradisional Melayu seperti baju kurung, baju Melayu, songkok, kain samping dan selendang. Mereka juga seronok bermain peran dengan menggayakan pakaian yang tersedia dan melakukan aksi seperti bersalaman, kunjung-mengunjung dan sebagainya.

Murid-murid Nurseri 2 pula memulakan pembelajaran tentang pakaian tradisional Melayu dengan melukis corak pada pakaian baju Melayu dan baju kurung masing-masing. Mereka begitu tekun melakukan kraf dan pada masa yang sama berkongsi akan pengalaman memakainya semasa perayaan Hari Raya. Malahan, ada yang mengenalinya sebagai ‘baju raya’.

Bagi murid-murid Tadika 1, mereka mempelajari tentang pakaian tradisional Melayu yang utama iaitu baju Melayu dan baju kurung. Secara berpasangan, mereka melukis bentuk badan masing-masing dan menggunakan kreativiti untuk mereka baju tradisonal mereka sendiri. Berdasarkan pakaian tradisional yang ada, mereka melakarkan kreativiti mereka dengan mengikut imaginasi dan pengalaman menggayakan pakaian tradisional semasa perayaan.

Selain daripada pakaian tradisional Melayu yang lazim seperti baju Melayu, baju kurung, songkok dan kain samping, murid-murid Tadika 2 kali ini diberi pendedahan kepada capal dan kain batik yang agak jarang digunakan lagi. Mereka membuat capal mereka sendiri dan juga mencuba mengenali serba sedikit tentang kain batik dan cara membuatnya.

“Roving Carnival: Play time with H - Team”

We started the new year right with a meaningful activity that promotes good and hygienic physical practices. We had invited the H-Team to

conduct the Roving Carnival at the Centre wherein children had a gainful and fun experience with the interactive resources they brought.

“Launching of Nature Magnified” Nature Magnified that was launched in January consists of a series of planned activities. The children were all hyped up especially with their ‘nature tool kit’ which they would be using during their explorations.

This programme, that includes learning journeys and also parental

activities, aims for children to develop appreciation towards nature by engaging their five senses and ignite inquisitiveness to unearth the

wonders of Mother Nature.

In this Nature Magnified programme, children will also learn to reduce, reuse and recycle.

“Chinese Cultural Month & Chinatown Heritage Tour”

Prior to Chinese New Year Celebration, KMBR had the first culture month for the year. We would like our children to appreciate things related to the Chinese customs and tradition. They were exposed to Chinese’s music and dance such as Lion dance and Ribbon dance,

making crafts such as Chinese paper fan and lanterns, and shared related stories.

The children also ventured into the busy streets of Chinatown with BeFriend Crew who showed us around. As we strolled amongst the locals and foreigners, the children were in awe when they saw the brightly red adorned stores and shops, heard Chinese festival music

and firecrackers, saw the Chinese food, and touched decorations both handmade and machine-made.

“KMBR Tea Session” On 24 February, more than 15 parents graced the tea session which aims to have greater understanding about the

curriculum and the programs that we are offering. It was also a great feedback session for parents as they could understand their children’s development better when they interacted with the teachers. Parents also had the

opportunity to meet up with the enrichment vendors to find out more about their programmes.

Hungry, Hungry Drama Workshop On 22 February, the N2 to K2 children attended a drama workshop called

“Hungry Hungry”, inspired by the well-known book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle, which was conducted by Act 3 Drama Academy.

The drama workshop coincided with the theme of Bodyworks where children were immersed through dramatization and at the same time awareness on how

to express themselves through body movements in wide range of motions.

T1 Disposition Day: “Care for Environment Day”

On 9 March, we had our first disposition day for 2018 : ‘Care for the Environment Day’. The children were exposed to the needs to saving our Mother Earth. The children pledged

themselves to taking care of the environment after which they had a dress up competition,

where each level chose a representative to dress up. At the end of the activity, we enjoyed the children’s performances as

they delivered their special messages to saving the Earth.

Warisan Budaya Melayu Sejajar dengan maklamat pembelajaran Bahasa Melayu iaitu Budaya,

Komunikasi dan Hubungan, Kidz Meadow telah mengadakan lawatan ke Taman Warisan Melayu pada 7 Mac 2018 yang lalu. Objektif lawatan diadakan

adalah untuk memberi pendedahan terhadap warisan dan budaya Melayu, mengenalpasti perkara yang bersangkutan dengan budaya Melayu dan juga mengaitkan perkara yang dipelajari dengan pengalaman/kehidupan nyata.

Apa yang pasti, lawatan ini dapat memberi peluang kepada murid-murid untuk mengenali akan budaya masyarakat Melayu dengan lebih

mendalam lagi.

Bak kata pepatah, yang lama dikelek, yang bahuru didukung. Adat lama tetap diamalkan disamping budaya hidup yang baharu.

Lawatan dilanjutkan ke pameran ‘Sirri na Pesse’ dimana murid-murid dapat mengenali serba sedikit tentang kaum Melayu-

Bugis di Singapura. Pameran ini memberi pendedahan bahawa walaupun secara umumnya mereka dikenali sebagai orang

Melayu, ada adat, cara kehidupan dan makanan yang khususnya dikaitkan dengan masyarakat tertentu.

Murid-murid memulakan pembelajaran mereka dengan mengunjungi pameran tetap, dimana mereka dapat mempelajari tentang budaya

Melayu secara umum seperti pakaian dan aksesori, seni persembahan wayang kulit, alat muzik tradisional seperti angklung dan juga cara

kehidupan masyarakat Melayu pada zaman dahulu.

Care for the Environment Week KMBR had Care for Environment Week during the March holidays. These activities were

conducted for the children as a follow up to the Disposition Day, Care for the Environment Day. During this week, children were exposed to water conservation using the PUB resource

book ‘A Water Wally Adventure: The Surprise Visitor’.

The N2s to K2s children went for the Rain Garden Workshop on 15 March, conducted by PUB, as a closure.

On 14 March, we had a fieldtrip to the zoo where children learnt about the needs in conserving the environment. They were

introduced to the various animals that were affected by their habitats.
