SYMBOL FORGIVEN AND FREED BY GOD IN JESUS CHRIST, Forgiven and freed by grace through faith, the central figure stands in praise. AND EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, WE COMMIT OUR-SELVES: Rooted in faith, the trio of women emerge. The outline of the central figure forms a cross. We are Presbyterian women, engrafted in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us. TO NURTURE OUR FAITH THROUGH PRAYER AND BIBLE STUDY, The right figure holds a book to guide her reading, studying, praying or meditating. TO SUPPORT THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH WORLDWIDE, The left figure reaches out to care for others, as she shares, nurtures and heals. The circle represents the church worldwide where women offer their gifts and talents in the midst of the global community. TO WORK FOR JUSTICE AND PEACE, The uplifted arms of the cen-tral figure reach out to embrace a just peace for the world. The relation-ship between the three figures depicts lives of wholeness rather than tur-moil. AND TO BUILD AN INCLUSIVE, CARING COMMUNITY OF WOMEN The three women have no distinct features and represent all women. The shapes surrounding them express energy, strength and open-ness. THAT STRENGTHENS THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (U.S.A.) Our name, Presbyterian Women, ties us to our denomination. The Bible resembles the Bible depicted in the PC(USA) Seal. AND WITNESSES TO THE PROMISES OF GOD’S KINGDOM. Guided by the four parts of our Purpose, Presbyterian Women witness to the reality of God’s present realm.

CELEBRATION OF MISSION

THROUGH WOMEN’S PLEDGES

Each woman is encouraged to make an annual pledge to Presbyterian Women over and above her regular church pledge. The contributions will go to the support of the mission of the church locally and worldwide.

CELEBRATION OF CREATIVE MINISTRIES

Two special offerings will be taken each year: one in the fall for the Thank Offering to be used for a number of small projects (thirty-three percent of the Thank Offering will go for health ministries); and one in the spring for the Birthday Offering to go for not more than three predetermined projects.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Opportunities for service to others are unlimited. Circles have partic-ipated in the following projects:

• Saturday Lunch Ministry

• Hurricane, earthquake and flood relief

• Angel Tree Ministry

• Sending gift cards to our college freshmen

• Collecting items for Haven and House of Hope

• Collecting food for God’s Storehouse

• Supporting a child in the Open Arms Foundation in Colombia

• Danville Free Clinic

• Holy Week Lunches

• Donate School & Health Kits to Church World Service through Church Women United.

• Danville Area Crop Hunger Walk Each Circle is encouraged to have a special project or projects to reach out to our neighbors both near and far.
