ADB team's 2-day visit concludes Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Apr II: A team

of Asian Development Bank team that had come to review the preparedness of tranche-IT projects of JKUSDTP (Jammu and Kashm ir Urban Sector D eve I opm ent In v estm en t Programme) being executed by Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (JKERA) concluded its two day visit to the valley.

In a press release issued here, a spokesman of the ERA said that the team carried out a meeting with Saurabh Bhagat, Chief Executive Officer, ERA. The team was briefed about the preparedness for tl1c major proj­ects which arc proposed to be taken up by IKERA under the tranche-!l of the Asian Development Bank funded JKUSDlP.

The projects being carried out include construction of Jehangir Chowk-Natipora expressway corridor in Srinagar and construction of Bikram Chowk expressway conidor in Jammu. Besides this construc­tion of multi-level parking facil­ity in Srinagar and some water

supply and drainage projects in Jammu and Srinagar was also discussed during the meeting.

The team was told that the projects are estimated to cost around Rs 800 crore. They were told that as part of the rehabilita­tion measure the displaced shop­keepers have been paid compen­sation of Rs 12 lakh in lieu of income loss and shifting grant. These people have been rehabil­itated in the shopping complex constructed by Srinagar MW1icipal Corporation.

The visiting ADS team com­prising of Atsushi Kaneko, Senior Urban Development spe­cialist (ADS) and Ron Slangen Urban Development Specialist (ADS) expressed overall satis­faction with the progress achieved by J&K ERA on reset­tlement and other aspects of the project.

The meeting was also attend­ed by Khalid Muzaffar, Director Central, J&K ERA, O.P Dubey, Director Urban, J&K ERA, Shagufta Qazi, Director Finance, J&K ERA and other senior officers of J&KERA and project support unit of Asian Development Bank.

Srinagar, Apr 11: A team of Asian Devel­opment Bank (ADB) concluded its two­day visit to the Valley today.

The team that comprised Senior Urban Development Specialist, Atsu­shi Kaneko and Urban Development Specialist, Ron Slangen, reviewed the "preparedness of stage-IT projects of J&K Urban Sector Development Investment Programme (JKUSDIP) being executed by Economic R~construction Agency in the state." ·

At a meeting chaired by Chief Execu­tive Officer, ERA, Saurabh Bhagat, the team was briefed about the preparedness of the major projects proposed to be taken up by ERA under the tranche-IT of the ADB funded JKUSDIP.

The projects include construction of

Jehangir Chowk-Natipora expressway corridor ij1 Srinagar and construction of Vikram Chowk expressway corridor in Jammu, construction of multi level park­ing facility in Srinagar and some water supply and drainage projects in Jammu and Srinagar, an official statement said.

The team was informed that prepara­tion of all preliminary project planning documents regarding these projects esti-

mated to cost around Rs BOO crore has been completed by ERA and submitted to ADB.

As part of rehabilitation measure the displaced shopkeepers of Kabbadil cheap market have been paid compensa­tion of Rs 12 lakh in lieu of income loss and shifting grant. Besides, the displaced shopkeepers have also been rehabilitated in the shopping complex constructed by SMC in the·nearby vicinity.

Further, the JKPCC which has been allotted construction of rehabilitation complexes near Jehangir Chowk and Rambagh has been asked to ensure the completion of the complexes as per stipu­lated timeframe.

The visiting ADB team expressed overall satisfaction with the progress achieved by ERA on resettlement and other aspects of the project, the statement said.
