The Very Hungry Caterpillar In P/1/2W we have been learning about minibeasts and have read the `Very Hungry
Caterpillar` as our focus text. When reading our focus text we have been learning to sequence events in chronological order. We made our own `Very Hungry Caterpillars` from vegetables and used fruit and cheese to show the order that the caterpillar ate
food in the story. After we ate all of our food we made ourselves a chrysalis and turned into beautiful butterflies!
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Principal’s Message 12th June 2020
Laptop and Internet Device Return A big thank you, we have had 100% return rate of all borrowed devices. Well done everyone. This has meant that the devices can be used by students at school. Back to School Routines Students have returned to school ‘Ready to Learn’. A number of students have been producing some excellent work samples. A number of other students are still getting used to a 9:00 school start. Please support the back to school routine with a regular nightly time to turn off screens and then settle in bed for sleep. Students should not access screens one hour prior to sleep. Screens should not be in bedrooms. Their brain needs to recover from the day and rest with sound sleep. Use books or a short chat to help with relaxing and going to sleep. Language Other Than English – LOTE – Indigenous Culture and Language Ms Mac has commenced her family leave with a new baby expected in the upcoming month. Ms Kellie will be taking the Indigenous Culture classes until the end of the year. We look forward to hearing about the new baby soon. School Council 18th June 9:45am The next School Council meeting will be held at an earlier time and different date to work around our COVID19 Guidelines and staffing requirements. The Agenda includes: 2019 Sebastopol PS Annual Report – 2019 School
Data Finance Reports: April, May COVID19 Guidelines for Sebastopol PS update Camps/ Excursions/ Concerts and gatherings at
school Student Reporting - Mid Year Reports These will be sent home on Wednesday 24th June. Teachers are currently reviewing the student work samples from ‘Remote Learning’ and completing a limited number of student assessments to inform the reports. The 2020 mid-year reports will include feedback on ‘Student Engagement’ during Remote Learning. The reports will not include the learning progress DOTS due to the disruption to our learning programs and the complex challenges that we have all experienced. The end of year reports will include learning progression points.
COVID SAFE at SEBASTOPOL PRIMARY SCHOOL DET Covid-19 Hotline: 1800 338 663 The plans need to stay in place until the end of term. Thanks for your support and cooperation
with this complex health management issue.
Please remind students to wash with soap and water regularly.
Please do not send unwell children to school. We have already had 25% of P/1/2 students with viruses who are now remaining at home.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Students will enter the school from the Yarrowee Street or Carpark drop off entry points only. Parents are unable to enter our school grounds or buildings without an appointment and prior arrangements. Sanitiser will be provided at drop off points each morning.
Students with any illness symptoms will have
their temperature taken with a contactless thermometer in class by Christie Stagg our First Aid Officer.
To stagger the end of day pick up, students in
family groups will be dismissed at 3:00pm, individual students will be dismissed at 3:10pm.
Managing a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19 In view of the recent school cases across the state, it is important to know what we will do if Sebastopol PS has a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19. The Principal or delegate will contact DHHS on 1300 651 160 to discuss what to do next if a student or staff member: a) Is a confirmed case b) Has been in contact with a confirmed case. ‘Close contact” is defined as having at least 15 minutes face-to-face with a confirmed case or someone who has shared a space for more than 2-hours with someone who has a confirmed case of coronavirus. Unless we have a student or staff member in one of the two categories above, we do not need to take further action, unless directed to do so by DET. If the school has a confirmed case DET will arrange with the school to undertake a deep clean and the school will be made operational as soon as possible. Canteen and Breakfast Club These will remain closed until further notice. We have free fruit, milk and sandwiches if required. Take care, thank you for your support and please stay well.

———————————————————————————————————————————- DET Provision of Feminine Hygiene products. Our student toilets have had a deep clean and makeover with new toilet seats and dispensers. Thanks Rin and Dave for competing this update. DET has installed a Pad and Tampon dispenser in the Girls’ Toilets. The DET will provide personal feminine hygiene items to support student wellbeing at school. The senior girls in Year 5 & 6 have been shown how this works. If you have any further questions about this please contact the office.
