Prep School Hobbies

Please indicate which hobby you would like your child to participate in by ticking the appropriate box on the Booking Form. Costs quoted in the brochure are based on a 15:45/16:50 finish and are shown with and without ASCAPS (After School Care Advance Payment Scheme).

Hobbies will commence on Monday 8 January 2018 and finish on Wednesday 28 March 2018 with exceptions where stated. For termly hobbies your child will be expected to commit to the hobby for the whole term. If your child does not attend a hobby for any reason or chooses to cancel the hobby part way through the term NO refund will be given in respect of any missed sessions. Please be advised that hobbies will only run if there are sufficient numbers.

Junior Warhammer Club with Mr Sayer Y3 & Y4 Warhammer is the world’s leading tabletop game. Players battle using miniature models and practise their Maths skills by adding up dice rolls. We will focus on Warhammer 40,000 which sees different armies fight against each other for control of the galaxy. In the club, pupils will assemble, paint and play with the models. There will also be opportunities to create and paint scenery for use in the battles.Maximum number: 7 Cost: £78 per term (11 weeks) or £11 with ASCAPS

Junior Art with Mr Edwards Y3 & Y4Children will be able to use their artistic talents to draw and paint pictures utilising the creative work available. Alternatively they can work on any personal projects they may have or wish to undertake.Maximum number: 10Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS

Junior Tapestry with Mrs Wynne Y3 & Y4Maximum number: 8Cost: £82 per term (11 weeks) or £15 with ASCAPS

Ballet & Tap Y3 & Y4Encouraging children to use their imagination while learning basic ballet & tap skills based on the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) syllabus. Developing ballet and tap techniques, co-ordination, musicality, balance, posture and rhythm. This will be a regular club, eventually leading to examinations. Children will need to wear black plimsolls for the first few sessions, but will then need to buy appropriate clothing (please see list overleaf). Due to the uniform requirement for this hobby, priority will be given to those previously registered.Minimum number: 10 Maximum number: 20 Cost: £100 per term (11 weeks) or £33 with ASCAPS

Colts A & 1st XI Cricket with Messrs Newton, Goldsmith & Findlay Y5 to Y8Further enquiries to Mr Newton please as this is not a session for beginners.Cost: £100 per term (11 weeks) or £33 with ASCAPS.

Real World Computing with Mr Harris & Mr Wilkinson Y5 to Y8Design a sports game using the Microbit for sound and scoring. Children willconstruct either a football, or basketball pitch and use their Microbit to keep score and use sound effects to enhance the game play. They will use and extend their knowledge of electrical circuits to come up with an effective design. An interest in Javascript coding is a must as some advanced programming will be used.Maximum number: 8Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS

Hama Bead Hobby with Mrs Rust Y3 & Y4Create designs and patterns from Hama Beads - choose your particular design or use your own imagination! Select a pegboard and choice of coloured beads and away you go! It’s as simple as that.Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS.

Junior Spanish with Mrs Bowles Y3 & Y4Learn numbers, colours and greetings. Play games and taste Spanish food.Maximum number: 16 Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS.

Table Tennis with Mr George Luong Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8Learn correct technique, the tactics and practise playing against opponents, George and even the ball machine.Maximum number: 12 Cost: £109 per term (12 weeks) or £36 with ASCAPS.

Boogie Bounce Kidz Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8A fun filled disco themed bounce session with individual mini trampolines to bounce along to music you’ll love! Boogie Bounce Kidz encourages confidence, refined motor skills, co-ordination, balance and exercise all while having a great time. Quiz Club with Mrs Hambidge Y5 to Y8Show off and strengthen your knowledge in a variety of quizzes presented in varying forms with the opportunity to work in a team and on your own.Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS.

Goblin Go Karts with Mr Forsey & Mr Sowry Y4 to Y6How would you like to be part of a team building a Go-Kart you can actually get into and drive?! The Greenpower Goblin Club, in its second year, offers pupils in Year 4 to 6, an opportunity to restore and build our 200W buggies. The intention is to race the buggies at events held locally and nationally against other schools over the next two terms. Please note the later finish time of 18:00Maximum number: 8 with priority given to children in Y6Cost: £80 per term (11 weeks) or £12 with ASCAPS.(Please note Y4 children will either need to be collected from School at 15:45 and returned at 16:50 when this hobby starts OR be booked in for an additional Junior hobby which will incur an additional late stay charge)

Junior Lego Club with Mrs Howe Y3 & Y4Release your inner builder and use plastic bricks in a variety of colours and sizes to assemble and create models of almost anything imaginable. Explore Programming with Mr Harris & Mr Wilkinson Y3 & Y4Pupils will have the opportunity to explore coding through game play. Fight your way through your kingdom in Code Combat or Learn to draw graphicsusing code.org. Pupils can even create their own games using Kodu andenhance the game play with a Microbit controller.Maximum number: 15Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS.

Cheerleading with Norfolk Cheer Athletics Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 All-star cheerleading combines stunting, gymnastics, jumps and dance. It helps build self-esteem and promotes self-discipline, team work and commitment. This hobby welcomes boys and girls, places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.Minimum number: 10 Maximum number: 15 £101 per term (10 weeks) or £40 with ASCAPS.

Tennis with Mr Stocker Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8From novice to professional the tennis coaching team will help develop your child’s tennis skills, serving and match play.Maximum number: 12 Cost: £101 per term (10 weeks) or £40 with ASCAPS.

Football with Community Sports Foundation Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8For football enthusiasts, this hobby aims to develop football skills and game play in a range of competitive and skills-based sessions. First Aid with Mr Wood Y5 to Y8Following the the St Johns First Aid for School Pupils course, covers a range of topics relevant to pupils at this school. From learning about how to cope in an emergency, to treating minor cuts and fractures, right up to performingresuscitation, pupils will have the chance to learn a vital life skill.Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS.

Rock Band Hobby with Mr Hamilton Y5 to Y8Rock Band Hobby is for competent musicians willing to learn a piece of music in their own time. Numbers may be limited and priority will be given to those who learn an instrument at school.Maximum number: 5 Cost: £6.10 per session or no charge with ASCAPS.

Junior Retro Gaming Y3 & Y4For an afternoon of fun there’s nothing better than table top board games to stimulate your imagination. Take turns with your opponents to move counters around a board to accrue points or achieve a winning position.
