Trinity Preparation for Kindergarten Program -‐‑ 2016 Purpose
To provide an opportunity for low income children and children in foster care to develop school readiness skills in an environment that fosters the love and joy of learning. Priority will be given to children who have not attended a pre-‐‑K program and will be entering kindergarten in August 2016. (must be 5 years old on or before August 15th, 2016 ) Description
In July Trinity Church will provide a free preparation for kindergarten experience for low income children and children in foster care. Instruction will be led by a certified teacher using curriculum presently used in the Clarksville-‐‑Montgomery County School System pre-‐‑K classes. Two teaching assistants and volunteers will assist the teacher in the classroom, prepare meals, and supervise the arrival and departure of students. Enrollment will be limited to 20 children. Transportation will not be provided, but the city bus station is only one block away. Services offered: Early childhood education for children immediately prior to entering kindergarten in August 2016 (must be 5 years old on or before August 15th, 2016) School will be held for 3 weeks in July 2016 (July 5-‐‑8, July 11-‐‑15, July 18-‐‑22), Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Meal Provisions: Breakfast and lunch will be available in accordance with public school nutrition guidelines. Reason for Need:
• High percentage of economically at risk students in Clarksville-‐‑Montgomery County and waiting lists for Head Start and public pre-‐‑K programs.
• Pre-‐‑Kindergarten education is needed to help students develop the pre-‐‑academic and social skills necessary for success in their educational journeys.

Job Description-‐‑ Pre-‐‑School Teacher Purpose of Job To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their success in kindergarten and their development as mature, able and responsible individuals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this job.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes at Trinity Church at the times designated. • Implement and teach Pre-‐‑K curriculum • Submit a list of materials needed for curriculum and play activities • Adjust and adapt to flexible Pre-‐‑K scheduling. • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual
needs, interests, and abilities of the Pre-‐‑K students. • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and
appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. • Count the students and know where they are at all times! • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with the Pre-‐‑K
students and their parents concerning the intellectual, social, emotional, and physiological growth of each child.
• Prepare for Pre-‐‑K classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect Pre-‐‑K students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Supervise outdoor activities. • Assist Pre-‐‑K students with meals and snacks and model good table manners. • Participate in Staff Meetings before and after the start of classes (dates TBA)
Terms of Employment: 3 weeks in July (July 5-‐‑8, July 11-‐‑15, July 18-‐‑22), 2016 + staff meetings
Time is 8:30 am -‐‑ 3:30 pm, Monday -‐‑ Friday Have a current CPR/Basic First Aid card or will obtain one before hire date.
Background check required. Compensation: $1700 paid as a contract worker at the end of program Minimum Experience Required to Perform Essential job functions:
Experience as a certified teacher, Early Childhood Education degree preferred Complete “Safe Guarding God’s Children” training online prior to 7/1/16.
