INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATIONS COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to introduce the student to basic concepts in computer and information technology. The areas of instruction covered include computer hardware, software, Internet, and network systems. Upon successful completion of this course, a student should be able to successfully enter any one of the Information Technology Cluster majors. This course will also prepare the student to take the IC3 Certification test. OBJECTIVE: Given the necessary equipment, supplies, and facilities, the student will be able to successfully complete all of the following core standards. COMPUTER ACCESS REQUIRED. INTERNET ACCESS IS REQUIRED. AT LEAST ONE TAKE-APART COMPUTER IS REQUIRED FOR IDENTIFYING COMPUTER COMPONENTS. Note: The standards are written for a ½ -unit course. If the course is to be taught for 1 unit of credit, the local advisory committee should determine what should be added to the course.
