AKC Sanctioned Beginner Puppy Competition!

Section 1- ClassificationsThe Four-to-Six Month Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and over but undersix months on the day of the event. Classes will be offered for breeds and varieties and divided into Groupsas described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class breedsas listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous class competition will be the equivalent of Group com-petition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. The FSS com-petition will be the equivalent of Group competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show.

Section 2 – Entry and EligibilityEntry and eligibility requirements include:

• The Four-to-Six Month Puppy event may be offered at licensed or member dog shows at the optionof the show giving club.

• Four-to-Six Month Puppy Competition must be listed in the premium list, entry form and judgingschedule, if offered.

• AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for all entries of an AKC recognizedbreed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows.

• A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin.

• FSS number or FSS registered litter number will be required for Miscellaneous and FSS breed entries.

• All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian’s protocol.

• Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must behandled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs orhas belonged to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised orrepresented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited bycurrent assistants and household members of a professional handler.

Entries will close Wednesday Noon, January 31, 2018 at Superintendent’s office.

AKC NATIONAL OWNER-HANDLED SERIES - SUNDAYThe AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibitedby their owners that are not professional handlers.

“DON’T FORGET TO CHECK THE OWNER-HANDLED BOX ON THEENTRY FORM IF ENTERING THIS COMPETITION.”

All dogs that are owner-handled and are not exhibited in the National Owner-Handled Series byprofessional handlers* meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare theirdog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. Eligibledogs will be identified by an asterisk in the steward’s book & the catalog. Dogs must be handledthroughout the breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible owner.Professional handlers, household members and current assistants** to professional handlersmay not exhibit the dog in any AKC National Owner-Handled Series competition during theentire show.

Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are competing in the Best ofBreed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the non-regular classes.

The breed will not be represented in the Owner-Handled Group if there is no eligible dog compet-ing in the Best of Breed, or in Best of Winners competition.

*Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional han-dlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handlingdogs for pay within the last five years.

**A current assistant is defined by anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, orassisting a professional handler at the show or any during the cluster/weekend.

NOVICE SENIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who atthe time entries close, have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at alicensed or member show.

OPEN JUNIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 9 and under 12 years of age on the day of the show who at thetime entries close, have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competi-tion present in the Novice Class.

OPEN INTERMEDIATE CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 12 and under 15 years of age on the day of the showwho at the time entries close, have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, withcompetition present in the Novice Class.

OPEN SENIOR CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at thetime entries close, have won three (3) first place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competi-tion present in the Novice Class.

MASTER CLASS - For Boys and Girls at least 9 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show and who have wonten (10) Best Junior Handler awards with competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibilitydates for the AKC National Championship. All juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the MasterClass and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame forthat year has passed, all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year.

NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their AKC JUNIOR HANDLER NUMBER on each entry.

ATTENTION EXHIBITORSThe Southwest corner door of the Varied Industries Building will be opened first at 6:00 amfollowed by all other doors. Grooming area will be available 6:00 am to 10:00 pm Fridayand Saturday, and Sunday after 6:00 am. Dogs must be removed from the show site after Bestin Show Sunday, February 18, 2018. Doors will be locked from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. Entry to Fairgrounds through Grand Ave gate only.All vehicle parking is controlled by the fairground police.Parking on hard surface lot next to the building.Grooming in designated area only. Obedience crating only around Obedience rings. Soft sidedcrates allowed for Obedience crating. This will be strictly enforced!!!Reserved grooming available. Open grooming limited.Crates must be stacked. No private ex-pens, cocker pens, puppy pens, rugs or mats allowed in thebuilding. Designated aisles must be kept open!Toy Crates may be stacked in designated area of center aisle only during the time that breed isbeing judged. Food service will be available in the building.

Please keep the show grounds & building clean. Exhibitors will be responsible for their own set-up areas.

AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, Chapter 11, Section 11, states: Only dogs that areeligible to be shown under the American Kennel Club rules shall be allowed within theshow precincts...

This club does not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Official AKC entry form for thisevent.

A Judge requesting the use of a ramp must give notice to the show superintendent/show secretaryprior to judging. The entire entry in a breed is to be examined in the same manner (ground, table, orramp). Ramps can be used in emergency situation to judge any breed. In an emergency situation anexhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund.

The following breeds may be judged on the ground or on a ramp: Lagotto Romagnolo, AmericanWater Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels, English Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels,Cirneco dell’Etna, American Staffordshire Terriers, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft CoatedWheaten Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Finnish Spitz, Keeshonden, Finnish Lapphunds, NorwegianBuhunds, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs, Spanish Water Dogs and Norrbottenspets (Misc).

The following breeds may be judged on the ground, a ramp, or on a table: Boykin Spaniels andWhippets.

The following breeds must be judged on a ramp through all levels of conformation competition:Sussex Spaniels, Basset Hounds, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei and Chow Chows.

A Recording Fee of 50 cents for each dog and an AKC Event Service Fee of $3.00 will be required foreach recordable single entry class at any Licensed or Member Club Show or Obedience Trial.(American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2). An AKC Recording Fee of $3.50 1st Entry & $3.00additional entry of same dog will be required for each entry in Rally. (American Kennel Club RallyRegulation, Chapter 1, Section 3) These Fees are paid to the American Kennel Club.

Exhibitors are expected to clean up after their dogs on the show grounds at ALL times

CANADIAN EXHIBITORS MUST SUBMIT ENTRIES WITH CHECKS DRAWN ON U.S. ACCOUNTS ORWITH INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDERS IN U.S. FUNDS.

There will be no refund for duplicate entries.

Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging.

Dogs allowed in rings during judging only.

Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor its Superintendents will be responsible orobligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging.Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible forthe presence of their dogs in the judging rings.

The Club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.

All trophies must be claimed the day of the show - None will be mailed.

All checks issued as prizes are the sole responsibility of the recipient. Lost, stolen and/or misplaced checkswill not be replaced. Checks are valid for 90 days. The Superintendent is not able to cash checks.

RETURNED CHECKS/DECLINED CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS do not constitute a valid entry fee. Feesmust be paid in guaranteed funds. Checks will not be accepted. The Superintendent will add a fee forcompleting the transaction and/or reprocessing the entries. Repeated occurrences from the sameexhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis.

Entry Fee will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarianor judge or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.

Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internaland external parasites, any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccinations.

No entry fees will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil distur-bances, fire, extreme and/or dangerous weather conditions, an Act of God, public emergency, act of apublic enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or the Superintendent.

The show giving Club, the Show Superintendent, their agents, employees, etc, assume no responsibil-ity for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or propertyand further assume no responsibility for injury to children.

No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any condition as to its accep-tance. Entries will not be accepted without fees, signatures or the “Agreement” on the reverse side ofthe Official AKC Entry Form.

Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing prior to close of entries.Those received by telephone are not acceptable.

Refunds of $3.00 & less will not be issued due to the costs of processing.

An administrative fee of $2.00 will be charged for all cancellations or changes made prior to closingof entries.

NEW THIS YEAR - Online reservations at Cyclone Country Kennel Club of Ames, Inc. website www.cckc-ames.com. Make your grooming reservations in the events tab and pay with PayPal.

All spaces will be approximately 5’ X 10’. This will accommodate 4 medium sized crates, one grooming table &equipment. The cost will be $10.00 for the weekend (February 16, 17 & 18, 2018). The cost for an electrical out-let is $30.00. No extension cords allowed across any aisle.

Tags for pre-paid electrical plug in will be picked up at grooming check in. All cords not tagged will be removed.

The club reserves the right to consider the safety of all breeds when making assignments in certain areas.

Reservations will be accepted until January 31, 2018, unless filled.Receipt of reservation will be acknowledged & space assignments will be available at grooming check-in table.

You may not request a particular space or to be setup near another exhibitor.

If the reserved grooming area is full, you will be notified by e-mail.

All rules that apply to free grooming, also apply to reserved grooming.

The Rat Pack Barn Hunt Club will be presenting two days, four trials of barn hunt in conjunction with these trials.

Barn hunt is a sport for all dogs, not just terriers! Rats are safely containedin PVC tubes and hidden in mazes of straw bales. Dog and handler teamshave a time limit to find the proper number of rats, climb on a bale andexecute a tunnel made of straw.

The rats we use in barn hunt are our pets and we take the utmost care toinsure their safety and comfort.

INSTRUCTIONS1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular variety you are enter-

ing i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color). Beagles (not exceeding 13 in. over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.). Dachshunds(longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), EnglishToy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard), Collies (rough, smooth),

The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition; Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which,according to their owner’s records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The show-ing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completedthe requirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to des-ignating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has beenacquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement,regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry formwhether transfer application has been mailed to the A.K.C. (For complete rules refer to Chapter 11, Section 3).
