PRE COURSE MAA 2015/16

rodrigo aguirre

Rodrigo Aguirre is a Nicaraguan architect specialized in the fields of parametric tooling, digital fabrication and manufacturing. He obtained his bachelor in architecture at UAM (American University) in Managua, Nicaragua and completed the two year master in advanced archi-tecture at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Ca-talonia (IaaC) in Barcelona, Spain. His ongoing collaboration with the Institute´s REsearch + DEvelopment department and IAAC special projects has involved advanced form finding and computational methods related to generative design. He is a principal member of the computational faculty, and has acted as studio instructor for the masters program in 2014. His labor as a ´Tallerista´ has led to his involvement with workshops related to the translation of computational protocols to fabrication of physical prototypes. From 2013-15 he has coordinated international workshops in Brazil and Nicaragua related to digital tooling, and par-ticipated as faculty in multi-scalar design workshops in Egypt and China, the latter of which focused on the pro-duction of 1:1 scale construction.Rodrigo has also been involved with the last three edi-tions of Iaacs global summer school (GSS), acting as a tutor in 2012-13, and coordinator of the affiliated global school in St. Petersburg, Russia during the 2014 session. He continues his involvement in the 2015 edition as a coordinator, tutor and manager of communications and digital media.

mathilde marengo

Mathilde Marengo, PhD Architect, graduated cum lau-de in march 2010 from the Faculty of Architecture in Genoa, presenting a project studying the potentials of mega structures, in particular Stadiums, in the urban scape, tutored by Prof. Mosè Ricci, arch. Marco Carenzo. During her academic career she collaborated in several research projects investigating territorial and contem-porary urban transformations such as ‘LUNGOILMARE: continuità, modificazione e permanenze. Un’ipotesi di sviluppo per 25km di fronte mare del Ponente Ligure’, scientific coordinator Prof. Arch. Franz Prati; research group coordinators: Prof. Arch. Mosè Ricci, Arch. Gian-luca Peluffo; and “The Eco_Univercity Genoa Project”, scientific coordinators Prof. Mosè Ricci with Prof. Joerg Schroeder, Università di Genova, Technische Universitaet Munchen. She was also a part of the Inter-University Re-search team for the PRIN 2010-2011 managed by Mi-nistry of Education, University and Research (Ministero dell’Università, dell’Istruzione e della Ricerca) RECYCLE research project, focusing on urban recycling as the generator for new infrastructure and creativity in urban contexts. She won a research grant co-financed by Co-mapgnia di San Paolo for the “Atlante Med-Net”project, and in support for the development of her PhD research, developed both at the PhD School of Architecture and Design at the University of Genoa, XXVI cycle, and the Universitat Politecnica Catalunya. She obtained her In-ternational PhD title in April 2014, with “Multi City Coast. The evolving forms and structures of the Mediterranean multi-city. New models of urban thinking and perspecti-ve.” Since 2012 she is enrolled in the certified chamber of architects in Genoa. Since 2013 she has been in char-ge of Communication & Publications at IAAC.

Alexandre dubor

Alexandre Dubor is an architect from Paris looking for more multidisciplinary in the design of our built environ-ment. From the early stage of his experiences, he was looking at various way of mixing science with art (Art specialization within a scientific bachelor, Web-design & info-graphics scripts). Going further in the studies, he was able to develop project as architect and engineer (Structure & Architecture Master at EAVT + ENPC,Paris 2008). After some years working in various office such as Studio Daniel Libesking, Atenastudio, Donati et as-sociés, Arep, he obtain an architect license (HMONP at EAVT, 2010). Along side this work, he co-founded Co-llectif 277 (Paris, 2008), mixing architects, graphic de-signer and Computer engineer. Willing to develop con-nection between computer science and architecture, he obtain a postgraduate in Digital Tectonics at IAAC (Bar-celona, 2012). After a successful experience as teacher auxiliary at the University of Technology of Sydney (Aus-tralia, 2011), he is becoming more active in the academic field within the digital fabrication area (Auxiliary teacher at IAAC 2012), especially using 6-axis robot (workshop at IAAC & TU Delf, lecture at TU Vienna).

ece tankal

Ece Tankal is a Turkish Architect. IAAC Alumni, Ece completed her Master in advanced Architecture in 2014, presenting a project entitled Translated Geometries, de-veloped along with Efilena Baseta and Ramin Shamba-yati, investigating the potential of programmable matter, in particular Shape Memory Polymers, towards the ge-neration of Responsive Environments. Before coming to IAAC, Ece Completed a joint degree of the IED and UAB (Barcelona) in Interior Design, specializing in the design for Commercial Spaces; as well as a degree in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at the Bilkent University in Ankara.Ece is currently working with other IAAC Alumni, Car-men Aguilar and Jin Shihui, on a series of International Projects, among which a kinetic interactive installation.
