Services offered:
Tank Calibrations:
PM provides tanks calibration, commonly known
as “Tank Strapping”. This is the term applied to
the procedure for the measurement of storage
tanks, barges, ships, and/or any liquid bulk
container. These measurements provide the
necessary dimensions for the calculation of
capacity or “strapping tables”. Our service meets
& exceeds all API Standards for tank calibration
Considerations for calibrating a tank:
 New Construction.
 After any structural modifications.
In conjunction with an API 653
inspection.
 Minimal 15 year intervals as
recommended by API.
Considerations for re-computation of capacity
tables:
Change in service products reflecting different gravities.
Change in IFR weight or leg position.
New gauge position or new gauge height
PM can customize charts to meet your needs. Options include:
We have over twenty one years experience in the
accurate field measurements and
Charts/tables will be completed and delivered electronically the same day. N

UTI Shell/Floor/Roof Readings:
Digital ultrasonic thickness testing is the measurement of the remaining wall thickness of pipelines,
tanks, or pressure vessels subject to internal corrosion.

High Level Alarm Verifications:
We know how crucial it is for tank owners &
terminal/project managers to know exact
their liquid levels are.
These levels are critical when trying to determine
such levels as the following:
 The high alarm level.
 The high-high alarm level.
 The (safe fill height).
 The overflow level.
The deck damage level (The point at which
the secondary seal of the IFR will make contact
with the lowest fixed appurtenance (i.e., overflow
vents, foam chambers, rafters, etc.)

Gauge Tape Calibration/API-Certification:
API requires all gauge tapes used in the measurement of “custody transfer products” to be calibrated
at least once a year!
PM calibrates tapes by comparing the working tape at very specific designated intervals against our
“NIST” master tape. A very specific amount of tension is applied to both tapes on a flat surface. The
physical readings are taken and the variances are noted and recorded.
Page 4
The physical readings will be recorded and documented. The owner will be issued a “Certificate of
Calibration” for each gauge tape.
The “Certificate of Calibration is valid for one year as per API standards.
Tapes with accompanying certificates are considered “NIST” traceable and are accepted by API for
custody transfer measurements.

Precision Measurement’s written policy & procedure manual for tank & tape
measurements assures all measurements are performed in a unified manner. All work
performed by PM is done in strict accordance with the latest American Petroleum
Institute (API) Standards, which includes the: Manual of Petroleum Measurements
Standards (MPMS), the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) and
(NIST).
Thank you for looking through just some of the services we offer. We can customize our services to fit
your exact needs and will work closely with you to get the project done.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to give me a call anytime.
As always, I really do appreciate your business & loyalty!
