Before you start your work experience, make sure you know exactly what time to arrive and what to wear, along with all the other details involved in your working day. Make a phone call to your employer before you start work experience on July 6th.

Work experience is a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate and develop your employability skills for your application to Post16, your CVs, applying for part-time work or for your Rotary interview in July. Write how you have already shown your skills and how work experience might help you to develop your skills further.

Read this. Using social media at work can get you in to a lot of ‘hot water’. Consider what you are posting and how it will reflect on you as an individual and a future employee. The best advice is not to use social media on your work experience placement.

Read this too. Accidents can happen anywhere, at anytime. You should be given a health and safety briefing on the first day of your work experience.

If you don’t get a health and safety talk, ask for one – it could save you from getting hurt.

It is important to keep a record of what you do each day – it’s very likely this will feed directly in to your application to Post16, CVs and Rotary interviews.

You will have developed so many skills in the time you are out. Celebrate your achievement!
