Reading is important because it develops the mind. Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in

ability. To enhance the same DPS Surat organized Virtual Reading Week for the students of Class-I from Monday,

20th July 2020 to Friday, 24th July 2020. Various games like bingo, jumbled sentences, craft work and riddles were

organized using interactive widgets. The children also relished snacks prepared by the parents as per instructions

read out by them. It was an invigorating experience for them.

It has been truly said, “Health is wealth” . Health and hygiene are the most important concepts and skills to be taught

to the young ones in this pandemic situation. To manifest the same, Pre-Primary block of DPS Surat celebrated

Health and Hygiene week virtually from Monday, 6th July 2020 to Friday, 10th July 2020. There were various

activities conducted on importance of Yoga and exercise, a Keynote on Personal Hygiene, healthy food and food

habits, use of dustbins etc.

According to the current scenario, sustainable use of natural resources by humans is very important. And to

facilitate this, on Nature Conservation Day i.e., Tuesday, 28th July 2020 the tiny tots of Pre-Nursery, Nursery and

Prep were explained the importance of nature and to maintain a healthy and functional ecosystem via stories and

craft activities guided virtually by the teacher.

The tiny toddlers of Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Prep were familiarized towards their sensory capabilities by

exposing them to different objects. The excitement on their faces was evident as they were performing these

activities at the comfort of their home from Monday, 20th July 2020 to Friday, 24th July 2020.

DPS Surat organized 'Math Week' virtually for the students of Class II from Tuesday 4th August 2020 to Monday,

10th August 2020. Various activities like bingo, origami, shapes, spin the wheel were designed using interactive

widgets. These activities enhanced their mental ability to calculate mentally and logically resolve a mathematical

problem. It was an enriching experience for the children.

“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.” This quote lies true for the eternal

friendship of Lord Krishna and Sudama. On the occasion of Friendship Day, the tots of Pre-Nursery, Nursery and

Prep learnt the importance of friendship through this story. They made friendship bands and danced virtually with

their friends on Friday 31st, July 2020.

“India is a golden bird and independence is its new wings.” This quote stands true for our country, which was

depicted by the tiny patriots of Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Prep, on the occasion of 74th Independence Day i.e., on 15th

August 2020. They danced virtually to the tunes of patriotic songs and showed their patriotism by making different

craft items.

The little chefs of Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Prep virtually prepared a power-packed early meal comprised of

proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fats in the form of a healthy sandwich. They learned about the five

fingers of nutrition, which makes a fist to fight against unhealthy eating habits. This activity took place from

Monday, 3rd August 2020 to Friday, 7th August 2020.

With great zeal and enthusiasm the little munchkins of Class I and Class II celebrated Safety Week from Monday,

7th September 2020 to Friday, 11th September 2020. Various home safety, personal safety and road safety measures

were explained to them using interactive presentations. Children learnt that by following these rules they can avoid

accidents and keep themselves safe.

“When slides and swings go round and round, when down is up and up is down, we come to know that it is Topsy-

Turvy Day!” Contrary to our regular practice of dressing up perfectly, in Topsy-Turvy world, everything is a

mismatch. The tiny toddlers of Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Prep were taken to this world from the comfort of their

homes from Monday, 24th August 2020 to Friday, 28th August 2020.

Grandparents are a family's greatest treasure. Through their special love and care, they keep families bonded. To

honour them, the Pre- Primary block of DPS Surat celebrated Grandparents Day from Monday 14th

September'2020 to Friday 19th September 2020. Children spent wondrous time with their grandparents by playing

games and dancing with them. These moments will be etched in their lives forever.

The students of Class I and II celebrated National Literacy Day on Thursday, 17th September 2020. Literacy is a

necessary skill for daily life. To manifest the importance of literacy, the little learners prepared a pocket dictionary.

They vowed that they will read more books and will write the difficult words in their dictionary.

'The world makes more sense with different shapes in it.' and to celebrate the existence of different shapes around us

the kids of Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Prep dressed up and did gross motor and fine motor activities related to shapes

from Monday, 21st September 2020 to Friday, 25th September 2020. Sitting at their homes, they enjoyed snacking

on food items of different shapes.

The young Dipsites of Class I and Class II celebrated Hindi Divas on Monday, 14th September 2020. To reinforce

the importance of our rich culture and language a brief introduction of 'Munshi Premchand' was given to the

children. Handwriting competition for students was organized.

Camps are always cherished part of childhood. Keeping this in view DPS Surat organised 'Virtual Enrichment Camp' for students of Class I and Class II from Monday, 28th September 2020 to Saturday, 3rd October 2020. Children explored their potentials in the field of Technology, Dance, Physical Activities, Art and Craft. They learnt various Art forms like Thumb Art, Jute Art and Paper folding Art. Little digital creators explored how to make comic strip and invitation cards digitally. They learnt the Western and Indian form of Dance. It was a platform for the children to explore and express their creativity.

being misused for various activities. On the occasion of Animal Welfare Day on 4th October 2020, the tiny toddlers

of Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Prep were virtually explained the importance of humane treatment towards animals

via storytelling and different activities from Monday, 28th September 2020 to Friday, 3rd October 2020.

“Colour have the power to directly influence our soul.” We touched upon the souls of the tots of Pre-Nursery,

Nursery and Prep by virtually celebrating 'Colours Week' from Monday, 5th October 2020 to Friday, 9th October

2020 where they dressed up and did various activities related to different colours.

celebrated 'World Card Day' virtually on Saturday, 3rd October 2020. Children displayed their creativity by

preparing beautiful cards for their loved ones.

The tiny tots of DPS Surat celebrated 'Navratri' festival virtually from Monday, 19th October 2020 to Friday, 23rd

October2020. All the students attired in traditional dresses added to the festive mood. Students along with their

teachers danced on the beats of the music. The essence of festivity was truly felt and celebrated by all in true spirit.

It was a memorable virtual event and will always be remembered by our little learners.

Mathematics is the only subject which shows that problems have solutions. Mathematics can be fun, challenging,

hands on and applicable in real life. To celebrate the spirit of mathematical learning students of Nursey to Class II

celebrated 'World Math Day' virtually on Thursday, 15th October 2020. Children excitedly played Yoga Bingo.

This activity enhanced their mental ability to calculate mentally and logically resolve a mathematical problem. It

was a fun way to engage children in Yoga with Mathematics in a unique way.

Musical Intelligence plays a vital role in child development. To manifest the same the Pre-Primary block of DPS

Surat organized a virtual 'Music Show' for the dynamic Dipsites on Friday, 6th November 2020 and Saturday, 7th

November 2020. They were oriented about different musical instruments. Children were delighted to play an

instrumental quiz. It was an invigorating experience for the little learners.

DPS Surat organized a virtual session on 'Body Fitness' for teachers on 24th October 2020. The session was

conducted by a renowned Sujok therapist Dr. Nitin Narwani. He explained that maintaining a good posture is vital

for our health. A good posture is just as essential as a healthy diet. He created awareness towards various problems

arising due to improper posture and shared the remedies for the same which can be carried out by oneself.

DPS Surat celebrated Children's Day on Tuesday, 10th November 2020. A magnificent Virtual Magic Show was

organized by the school for the students of Pre- Nursery to Class II. The little toddlers watched the show with great

excitement and were amazed to see the magic tricks. It was a lively and fun filled magic show thoroughly enjoyed

by everyone. This Virtual Magic Show will be engraved in their memories forever.

Diwali is the most awaited festival. Though children and teachers were apart from each other they virtually

celebrated the festival of lights from Monday, 02nd November 2020 to Tuesday, 10th November 2020. They learnt

different ways to celebrate eco friendly Diwali. With great zeal and enthusiasm children prepared diyas and wall

hangings. They played exciting games and participated in Thali Decoration. Children learnt to make scrumptious

coconut laddoos. It was an enriching experience for the little cherubs.

It has been rightly said, 'Play is the work of childhood.' In these difficult times of pandemic, we do not want our little

munchkins to be deprived of the fun and frolic. To manifest the same the Pre-Primary block of DPS Surat celebrated

Games Day on Saturday, 19th December 2020. They played one-minute games like the cotton ball bucket game,

throw a ball, stacking cups and many more. Children were amazed to play these awe-striking games. It was a day

filled with zeal and enthusiasm for the little ones.

The Pre- Primary block of DPS Surat celebrated 'Walt Disney Day' virtually on Saturday, 5th December 2020 with

great enthusiasm. Children were dressed up in their favourite Disney character's attire and spoke a few lines on the

same. They were exhilarated to see their peers dressed up as famous characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse,

Superman, Spiderman, Dora and many more. It was an entertaining and a fun filled day for the Disney lovers.

The Pre-Primary block of DPS Surat celebrated 'Family Week' virtually from Monday, 28th December 2020 to Saturday, 2nd January 2021 with great zeal and enthusiasm. Various activities were organised for the tiny tots and their family members. The activities enabled to revive and rekindle the importance of love and affection among the family members. The excitement was quite evident in the sparkling eyes throughout the week. Children spent quality time with their family members.

Christmas is the festival of cheer and love. The Pre- Primary block of DPS Surat celebrated Christmas virtually

with the same fervour. Teachers tried to spread the message of love and joy among the students. Children were

dressed in red and white coloured clothes. The little cherubs moved and grooved to the joyful tunes. It was indeed a

fabulous day for the young Dipsites.

Children are always excited to do things differently than the way they do regularly. The students of classes I and II celebrated 'Opposite Day' on Saturday, 16thJanuary 2021. Other than dressing up as opposites they did various activities related to 'Opposites', which also helped in reinforcing the concept of the same. Indeed, it was a fun-filled learning experience.


VIRTUAL ENRICHMENT CAMPVIRTUAL ENRICHMENT CAMPVIRTUAL ENRICHMENT CAMPAfter receiving an overwhelming response, the Pre-Primary block of DPS Surat organised the 'Virtual Enrichment Camp' again for the students of classes –I and II. The camp commenced from Monday, 14th December 2020 and continued till Saturday, 16th January 2021. Children enhanced their potentials in the field of Technology, Dance, Physical Activities, Art and craft. The little digital learners had hands - on experience on apps like Kidlo Kids, Tux Paint and Movietoons. They were delighted to create digital Christmas cards. These activities assisted in fostering their creativity. Warli art form was taught to them. With great zeal and enthusiasm, they learnt Zumba and tapped their feet on the beat of Western and contemporary music. This camp not only kept the young minds engaged but helped them to utilise and hone their skills.

Social and emotional learning helps the children to manage their emotions, feel and show empathy for others and establish healthy relationships. To manifest the same the students of classes I and II celebrated 'Random Act of Kindness Day' on Wednesday, 17th February 2021. Kindness is the key ingredient that helps a child to feel good. Children learnt to perform acts of kindness in different situations with the help of an interactive video. It was an enriching experience for the little ones.

The Pre-Primary block of DPS Surat celebrated the 71st Republic Day with great enthusiasm on Monday, 25th January 2021. Children celebrated this day by wearing the colours of the 'Tiranga'. They sang patriotic songs and danced virtually with reverence and pride filled in their hearts. Also, they showed their patriotism by making different craft items. The love for the country was quite evident in the sparkling eyes.

Poem builds phonemic awareness and builds essential skills like vocabulary, fluency, expression, and writing. It is important to develop each of these to enable the students to become adept readers. To facilitate the same, the students of classes I and II celebrated 'World Poetry Day' on Wednesday, 12th March 2021. They learnt how to write poems using rhyming words, which not only enhanced their creativity but also encouraged them to exhibit their potentials.
