8. Mining Procedure:
The mining of mineral in the proposed project site will be carried out in semi –
mechanized way. The mining activity will be carried out during day time from 9:00 A.M
to 6:00 PM. About 8 -9 people will be engaged in mining and that to from the nearby
villages. No power and D.G set will be installed within the site or in close proximity. The
total water requirement for drinking, washing will be about 300 lit/day. The water will be
supplied in water tanks or water container by the project proponent.
Instruments like iron pan, shovel, hoe and pickaxe will be used for manual mining. For
the safety of the labors steel tip shoe, helmets, gloves, mask will be provided. Provision
of medical kits will be made at site for emergency situation.
9. Mining Depth:
The mining will be up to 3m depth as per the rules of State Mining Department for
mining in river bed. No mining will be carried out during monsoon season.
10. Description of Mineable Area:
The buffer zone of about 7.5 meter has been provided.
There is no place of public utility is situated nearby
In the leased out area rocks are friable boulder conglomerates
The boulders and bajri is compacted in a matrix of sand, silt and clay
The sand, silt and clay are mixed in the matrix and sand cannot be segregated at
commercially viable cost, therefore the entire matrix is considered as waste
In all, five benches are suggested at following level
364 metres level
361 metres level
358 metres level
355 metres level
351 metres level
Hence, first five years working is suggested up to 355 meters level by considering the factor that
mine can be further developed.

(Mauza Churan, Tahsil Nahan, District Sirmour)
25
The rehabilitation is suggested only at places where no future mining will be possible and no
abandoned benches.
The bench wise production of the mineral, waste and top soil is given in the 1.8.
Figure 1.8: Showing year wise progressive mineable area.
11. Transportation and Route:
The mined material will be transported by Lorries to the local venders. While
transportation these lorry will be covered by plastic sheet to prevent it dispersion in air.
Care will also be taken to avoid peak traffic hours, school timing and office timing.

There exist bituminous road about 150 m away from project site. These roads via state
and national highway connect to the major part of district and adjacent states. Figure 1.2
given connectivity of the project site within district and adjoining state.
12. Land details:
As much as 4.7415 Hectares of mining lease has been granted for 5 years for mining of
minor minerals . The whole of the land belongs to private owners. Table 1.3 gives the
details of the leased out area. Kahsra Document is attached as Annexure– I

13. Reserve: For the calculation of reserve three geographical sections at the interval of
30 meter figure 6 were plotted along N-S grid and E–W grid and slice at intervals of 2
metres were also drawn to get the 3 D view of the deposit.
Total Geological Reserve
The total reserve is divided into two categories
Reserve up to 5 meter is categorized as proved
5 to 10 meter as probable
PRE – FEASIBILITY REPORT, 4.7415 Hectares Hillock Mining,
(Mauza Churan, Tahsil Nahan, District Sirmour)
27
Total geological reserve is calculated just on the basis of section lines surface area but
mine ability and other factor i.e are not considered in calculation of geological reserve.
o All the top soil is waste
Total Mineable reserve
For mineable reserve following are important consideration
The buffer zone of 7 meters is left as safe zone
The reserve upto 354 meter by making five benches of 3 x 2 meters from the 364 meters
level. Hence reserve is calculated by considering all possible options. The total
cumulative mineable reserves after considering matrix waste of 40% are shown in the
figure 8.
