Pre Apprenticeship Programmes These 8 week courses are for those interested in working in the Sport and Leisure industry. If you want to improve your skills and qualifications to help you get a job then come join us. We will help you prepare for interviews, improve your CV, brush up your literacy skills and learn how to lead and deliver multi-sports coaching sessions. You will also be required to carry out sports related volunteering placements to help you gain further experience. A limited number of Apprenticeships will be available on completion for successful learners. What qualifications do you get? Edexcel BTEC Certificate Level 1 in Work Skills Functional Skills English Level 1 Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership Emergency First Aid Start dates: 2nd July 2012 8th October 2012 14th January 2013 The course runs 15 hours a week for 8 weeks. Locations will be either South or Central Bristol. Full time table will be given at start of programme . What will it be like? You will also be expected to put your skills into practice and help deliver activities in the community. What qualifications do you get?

Edexcel BTEC Certificate Level 1 in Work Skills

Functional Skills English Level 1

Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership

Community Rugby Academy Bristol Rugby Community Foundation & the 2nd Chance Project have teamed up to develop a unique academy for young people with a passion for rugby and an interest community sport. It provides 16-18 year olds with a fantastic opportunity to play rugby, achieve a BTEC Diploma in Sport and coaching qualifications.

Academy participants will gain valuable experience as they practice their coaching and leadership skills on a diverse range of groups. Throughout the academy participants will develop personally, socially and professionally as they grow their understanding of community sport. As academy participants young people will also be required to assist the Community Foundation at all Bristol Rugby’s home matches giving them free pitch side access throughout the season.

Start date: Monday 1st October 2012 Times: Mon- Thu, 9.30am – 2.30pm Location: The Park, Knowle, Bristol - Match day attendance also expected at all home games Entry Requirement: English and Maths GCSE: Grade D

Deadline for Pre-apprenticeships is a week before start date of the listed course

Qualifications gained as an Academy Participant:

Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Sport

Level 1 Award in Using Sport to Tackle Youth Crime

Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership

Level 1 Award in Coaching Rugby Union

Deadline for Rugby Academy is September 14th. Applications will be accepted up until this point and each applicant will be invited for interview.
